Re: Mock and Final Adventurous Journey (Duke Award)

In view of the completion of your Duke award, Silver and Direct Silver, the Duke of
Edinburg’s Award office in collaboration with MGISS is planning a mock expedition to
be held on Thursday 28 July and Friday 29 July (1 night stay) in the premises of the
MGISS next to the Gymnasium. Students will be grouped and will have to stay for one
night in their own tents.
The final Adventurous Journey is scheduled for the 8-10 August 2022.

1. a. Mock Expedition
Venue: MGISS
Date: Thursday 28th July to Friday 29th July 2022

Day 1:
 Arrival time: 9.30 a.m
 Meeting with Parents
 Talk by officers form the award office
 Lunch
 Training for setting up of tents
 Expedition track
MGISS – Minissy waterfall – Bagatelle Dam - MGISS

Day 2:
 Compass reading
 Orienteering activity (School premises)
 Lunch
 Dismissal ( 1.00 p.m)

b. Supervision: P.E Educators and Educators of MGISS

c. Food and Refreshment for mock expedition:

Own menu plan and food.
Members of group to share food / drink / utensils for cooking.
Menu to include lunch for 2 days, dinner for 1 day and breakfast for one day

d. Sleeping Facilities:
Students need to bring their own tents.

e. Rules and Regulations:

 No cigarette and alcohol allowed during the whole camp
 No visit from parents
  Misconduct, use of abusive language and any other action considered
inappropriate are not allowed.
 Valuable belongings not to be carried on camp site.

Day 1: Super U Flacq - Poste de Flacq - Bras d'Eau ...Health track Roche Noires -
Riviere du Rempart swimming pool (Camping site)

Day 2: Riviere du Rempart - Schoenfeld - Poudre D’Or - Roche terre - Grand

Gaube – Calodyne - Anse la Raie (Camping site)

Day 3: Anse la Raie - Petit raffray – Daruty - Espace Maison Forbach

Back to school at around 13.00
