• Language has four basic skills these are LSRW in a sequence.
• The development of these skills must be in their sequential
order and in an integrated manner, then only these can be
best learnt.
ü Listening and Speaking are known as primary
skills, thus these must be developed first.
• It is an aural input.
• It involves a sender, a message and a receiver.
• Speech, rhythm, pronunciation etc. are learnt by listening
to appropriate models.

of the text.
● It increases the active vocabulary.
● It helps to understand each & every detail precisely.
Extensive Reading
● It means non detailed study of the text.
● It focuses on main points.
● It increases passive vocabulary.
● It develops interest and pleasure.

4. Writing Skill
● It is a skill which enables a learner to brainstorm, ideas, organize
them, draft, edit, and revise his/her work.
