DESIGN A BROCHURE

Summary of Key Concepts

Brochures are advertising pieces mainly used to introduce a
company or organization and inform about products or
services to a target audience. Brochure is a single sheet
document usually printed in one or two colors or in four-
color printing process.
The three different sizes that are considered standard by
brochure printing companies are
8-1/2” x 11” (standard page size), 8-1/2” x 14” (legal page
size), and 11” x 17” (approximately A/3 page size).

The brochure acts as a communication tool between the

sender and the receiver. It gives information about product
and services of an organization. The brochure also
represents the organization in the absence of its
representative/ executive. A pamphlet is an unbound
booklet. It may consist of a single sheet of paper that is
printed on both sides.

DESIGN A TABLOID
Summary of Key Concepts
A tabloid is a newspaper of small format giving the news in
condensed form usually with illustrated often sensational
material. Tabloid refers to a type of newspaper that typically
measures 11 X 17 inches and is five columns across,
narrower than a broadsheet newspaper. The tabloid
newspaper is printed on an A3 paper. Since tabloids are
smaller, their stories tend to be shorter than those found in
broadsheets.
If you look at a tabloid newspaper carefully, you will find
that the front page is covered more than half of its total
length with some celebrity picture. In addition, the content
of the tabloid newspaper is very different from the
broadsheet newspaper.

ACKNOWLEGDMENT
I am extremely thankful to the contribution by all of our knowledgeable
Faculty Member Mr. Gulaam hussain –with whose guidance I was able to
shape this report. He guided us that following certain steps we would able to
make this file. This report would not have been completed without his
constant support.

I am particularly grateful to Prof. (Dr.) Charulata Singh, Dean of Vivekananda

Institute of Professional Studies for her unfailing encouragement and thought-
provoking perspectives. I am also grateful to Mr. Gulaam hussain for guiding
us towards the right direction so that we can easily shape and prepare our
Graphics and Design Lab File.

This year was difficult for everyone but because of their constant guidance I
was able to complete the tasks properly and on time.
