Welcome to the TLE- Electrical Installation Maintenance Grade 10 Alternative Delivery Mode
(ADM) Module on Understanding Installation Electrical Lighting Systems.

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both from public
and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic
constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning activities at
their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century
skills while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You also need to
keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage their own learning. Furthermore,

and attitude about Electrical Installation and its Maintenance. Likewise, it

symbols, wiring diagram, installation using flexible armored cable [BX] and
flexible Metallic. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard sequence
directed to the achievement of two or more learning objectives as shown

maintenance as prescribed by TESDA Training
Regulations.

LESSON Understand Wires and Cables

WIRES are those conductors 3.26mm or No.8AWG and smaller in sizes.


CABLES on the other hand, are those which are larger than the wires.
So, wires are small cable while cables are big wires. Wires and cables are
either:

o Stranded wire- contains of a group of wires twisted to form a


metallic string.

o Solid wire- consists only of single conductor.
