Course The general aim of this course is to introduce the principles of measurement,

Measurement of Building Works (SMM) and the documentation use in tendering. The
second part, which is estimating introduces the tendering process, contract system
and different methods of estimating and focuses on the process of building unit rates
of the building trades

1.1) Documentation.
1.2) The various documents in common use, drawings, schedules, specification, bill of quantities and
schedule of rates.
1.3) The purpose, usage and importance of each document related to the value and cost.

1.5) Introduction of Quantity Surveying, SMM and measurements. Rules and principles of measurement as
defines in SMM

2.1) Introduction to estimating and development cost.
2.2) Interpretation and importance of estimating and roles of an estimator and Identify the development
cost for construction project.
