Jerry: Yes, that’s true grandpa. Please tell a story again. Please…?

Grandpa: Alright, are you ready to listen a short story of The Island of Socorro?

Juan: Yes, grandpa. Of course!

Lolo Pedro:

Long time ago, there was an island stand out by its beautiful views and natural resources.
Surrounded by the green leafy mountains and deep blue oceans. Abundance of plants that’s why people
called this place “Bunga” which means “fruit” represent plentiful harvest of any farm plants. The people
living there known for their kindness, diligence, helpfulness and have strong faith in God.

One morning, a boat of Spaniards church workers, among them a priest was sailing on the ocean
nearby in the island of Siargao. In a sudden, the boat they were riding in almost sank on the ocean due
to the bad weather. So, they called for help. Shouted “Socorro” which means way of asking “help” in
Spanish.

Upon seeing the situation of the visitors and sensing that the boat was almost sinking, the brave men of
the sitio on the board quickly get their fishing boat to managed to save the new comers despite of the
big waves.

The priest was very thankful to the brave men who showed such heroic act. Since then, Bunga Island
has been called “Socorro” as an honored and paying tribute of the brave men. That’s the beautiful story
of The Island of Socorro. Whom every socorronhon should be proud of.

Juan: Wow, amazing story of the said place.

Jason: We really love your stories grandpa, especially the story of The Island of Socorro.

Jerry: We’ve been waiting to hear another more story from you grandpa.

Grandpa: Thank you very much, my dearest grandchildren.
