Roguish Archetype:

Iaijutsu Master

I
aijutsu is the martial art of drawing a weapon (almost
always a Katana) and attacking with it in the same
fluid motion. It is the foundation of some forms of
dueling, and its masters are feared and respected
throughout lands where iaijutsu is practiced. Iaijutsu
Masters harness their energy to strike with blinding
speed and devastating power.
Iaijutsu
When you adopt this archetype at 3rd level, you gain the
following benefits:
Lightning Blade
You gain a bonus to your initiative equal to your Charisma
modifier.
Katana Finesse
You gain proficiency with longswords if you don’t already
have it, and it is considered a finesse weapon for you.
Quickdraw
You can draw a finesse as part of an attack and you can
sheathe a finesse weapon using your Cunning Action.
One Strike, Two Cuts
Starting at 3rd level, if you draw a finesse weapon as part of
an attack that deals Sneak Attack damage, you can deal an
extra 1d6 weapon damage. Starting at 5th level in this
Roguish Archetype, you deal an additional 1d6 weapon
damage if the creature hasn't taken a turn in the combat yet
as well.
Specialized Scabbard
At 9th level, you gain the knowledge to instruct an artisan in
the creation of a unique longsword scabbard that
compliments your unique brand of iaijutsu. A Specialized
Scabbard costs 100g and takes 3 days for an artisan to craft.
Only you can benefit from a Specialized Scabbard and you
can only equip one at a time.
Masterwork Scabbard
A traditional scabbard that is exceptionally well made and
maintained. You can sheathe your longsword as a Free Action
each time you roll a natural 20 on a d20 roll for an attack
with a longsword, or deal a killing blow against an enemy.
Disguised Scabbard
You can disguise your scabbard as a walking cane, parasol, or
any other appropriately sized mundane item (DM’s
discretion). Your longsword gains the Concealed property.

Concealed
A weapon with this property is not initially obvious, and may
easily be hidden or disguised as something else. A creature
attempting to locate the presence of this weapon must
succeed on an Intelligence (Investigation) check opposed by a
Dexterity (Stealth) check. Attacks made with this weapon
against creatues that are aware of you but are unaware of the
weapon's presence are made with advantage.

Strike with no Thought

At 13th level, if you begin combat within melee range of an
opponent, you gain a free surprise round, even though your
opponents are aware of your presence. The only action you
can take in this surprise round is an attack action using a
finesse weapon.
Strike from the Void
At 17th level, if you draw a finesse weapon as part of an
attack against a creature that hasn't taken a turn in combat
yet, you can deal extra damage based on the result of a
Sleight of Hand (Dexterity) check. You accumulate extra
damage dice according to the accompanying table.
You can also use Strike from the Void in preparation for
striking an inanimate object, assuming there are no
distractions. This is the technique martial artists use to
shatter objects.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you
finish a long rest.

A Blast From the Past
Hello, adventurers! Tabletop veterans might
instantly recognize the Iaijutsu Master from AD&D
Oriental Adventures. I wanted to pay homage to
the Prestige Class and revive it into a modern 5e
setting. The Rogue seemed to be a perfect fit to
replicate the playstyle of cutting down "flat-footed"
opponents with extra damage galore.
