Report on CHIVAR

Introduction
CHIVAR (Cluster of Handicraft in Bamboo Value Addition and Research) is a non-profit
organisation that supports business and provides volunteer opportunities in rural
communities. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing terrestrial plants in the world. The
company's mission is to bring people together to grow the bamboo culture, and CHIVAR
believes that changing people's opinions about bamboo is the first step.
CHIVAR is a group of bamboo professionals, business consultants, and environmental
advisers who are all concerned about the environment and bamboo. Because women are often
the breadwinners in their households, they hire mostly women and partner with women-led
organisations. All of this is being done in order to produce beautiful bamboo things created
by local artists.
The report is highlighting the process of bamboo product value addition & research unit,
CHIVAR (CLUSTER OF HANDICRAFTS IN BAMBOO VALUE ADDITION &
RESEARCH) project by KONBAC (Konkan Bamboo and Cane Development Centre). This
unit comes under Govt. schemes like SFURTI, KVIC, MSME, and GOI.Its services support
commercial as well as social project like environmental & scientific initiatives. CHIVAR
aims to bring people together to grow the culture of bamboo and creating job opportunities.
CHIVAR focuses on :
 Innovative designs and good quality which attracts the customer.
 To provide better services and facilities to bamboo growers, employees and
consumers.
 To earn trust of consumers by yielding superior experience and value.
 To step out for reduction of pollution to improve environmental conditions and
thereby achieve area development.

Making process
 Collect the bamboo mat from local areas of Sindhudurg District
 Fixing/ tightening the Bamboo mat is done by workers.
 The sketch of the person is made by the graphic designer.
 Laser printing of the sketch is done on Bamboo mat (Required Shape)
 Laser printing take 17 min per sheet to print photo
 Cutting the sheet/board by the help of CNC cutter machine
 Then paste the sheet on board
 When printing is miss in any part of the required sheet then next process is coloring it.
 Finishing and polishing of sheet photo.

They create different types of high-quality innovative products.

 Gifting- Belt clock, bullock cart, cannon, chocolate box, flower vase, fort, Ganpati
wall hanging, Ganesha wall frame, gift box, key chain holder, square clock, vanity
hanger, wine bottle holder.

Market
They order bamboo products from Tripura and after that they redesign it and sell it to the
visiting customers and retailers to promote their product. Usually CHIVAR sells its products
to corporates, Walk-in or Reference customers and also they sell products on social media
platforms etc.
