CHAOS-2023 ID Generation for Workshops

The Information Sytems Area is organizing a series of Workshops for the CHAOS event 2023 which includes several w
pronite events which are combined together in a several bundles. The details of the bundles is given in the Table 1 m
datasheet.

The participants can select a maximum of two bundles. Based on the selection the system had generated an ID for e
below given format:
System genrated ID format: yyyyb1b2ddd
(given in column A of Part A Datasheet)
yyyy: 4 digit year of graduation
b1: 2 character code for bundle 1
b2: 2 character code for bundle 2 The value for bundle 2 is "PS" if the participant has not selected the second bund
ddd: 3 digits for roll no.

For Ex: 2015A1C3474.

2015 is the year of graduation
A1 is the bundle 1 that the participant has selected
C3 is the bundle 2 that the participant has selected. The value for bundle 2 is "PS" if the participant has not select
474 is the roll number of the participant.

The batch representative has been assigned to help the IS Area Team and his first task is to reform the Old IDs bas
New IDs:
NEW ID format: yyyyb1b2dddd
yyyy: 4 digit year of graduation
b1 and b2: new and more meaningful 2 character codes for bundles given in Table 1
dddd: 4 digits for roll no.
SOLVE THE QUESTIONS FOR THE PART A AND PART B OF THE PROBLEM AND HELP YOUR BATCH REPRESENTATIVE
 Questions: PART A
1 Write a formula in G4 cell to get the current year.

2 Write a formula in G6 cell to get the date of the present day.

3 Write a formula in B3 cell (to be copied down) which will change only the bundle 1 (b1) part of the
old code given in A3 cell with the new code given in New column of Table1.

Write a formula in C3 cell (to be copied down) which will change only the bundle 2 (b2) part of the
4 code obtained in the B3 cell with the new code given in New column of Table1 - it remains
unchanged if bundle 2 value is PS.

Write a formula in D3 cell (to be copied down) which will transform the 3-digit roll number of the
5 code in C3 cell to a 4-digit roll number by prefixing it with a zero and finally forming the New ID for
the participants.

Write a formula using TEXT function in cell H17 (to be copied down to H19) which returns the name

of the week day of the CHAOS event date mentioned in cell G17.

Write a formula using any date function in cell I17 (to be copied down to H19) which returns the
7 name of the week day of the CHAOS event date mentioned in cell G18. Assume that the week starts
with a Saturday and the days of the week are listed in the cell range M3:N9.

8 Write a date function in G23 which show days left for the CHAOS event to start.

Cell I22 displays the message "xx Days to CHAOS!!". Here xx is the number of days obtained in cell

Assume that the CHAOS event is being organised every year since the establishment of the institute

Fetch the New IDs of all the participants from the Problem 1a in the A column of the Problem 1b
sheet using the formula including the header.

Wite a formula to extract the numeric form of year of passing in cell B2 (to be copied downwards).

Write a formula in cell C2 (to be copied downwards) to extract the bundle-1 (b1) part of the New ID
in cell A2 and write a formula in cell D2 (to be copied downwards) to extract the bundle-2 (b2) part
of the code in cell A2

Wite a formula in cell E2 (to be copied downwards) to extract the 4 digit numeric form of the roll
number.

There is a common event for all the participants for which they are required to be divided into groups
based on their year of graduation for interval of 5 years. The intervals for the year of graduation are
given in the cell range H2:H14. Write a formula in cell I2 that will calculate the number of students for
every group.

Write a single formula (use text function only) in cell M2 that can be copied downwards and in
column N as well to visualize (usig in cell bars "|") the number of times a bundle was selected by
participants. Format appropriatly.

Write a formula in cell M15 to count the number of participants who have opted IS bundle in either
bundle 1 or bundle 2. Use cell range L14:L15 if required.

Using conditional formatting highlight the entire record for the participant whose roll number is 777.
Write the formula in the conditional formating tab.
List down only the New IDs of the students who have graduated after 2015 (inclusive of 2015).
Records should be displayed from I22. Use cells I18:I19 for intermediary work.
List down the New IDs and Roll number of the students who have selected BI bundle and not
selected bundle 2. Using simplex (non-boolean) method to display the records from cell L22 onwards.
Use cells L18:M19 for intermediary work.
