Indian Virtual Herbarium Portal
• It aims to provide complete information on herbarium
specimens about the floral diversity of India and other countries
stored in the cabinet of the herbarium building through online
access.
The database created is the largest storage of information about
plant diversity in India.
• It was developed by the scientists of the Botanical Survey of
India (BSI).
• It will also aid the research studies and provide valuable insight
for global plant research.
Each record in the digital herbarium includes an image of the
preserved plant specimen, scientific name, collection locality, and
collection date, collector name, and barcode number.
Context – It was launched recently.

• According to the Family Court Act of 1984, it is
mandatory for a State government to set up a family court
for every city or a town whose population exceeds one
million.
• It was enacted for the establishment of Family Courts with
a view to promote conciliation, and secure speedy
settlement of disputes relating to marriage and family
affairs and for related matters.
• The Family Court Act provides for only one right of
appeal which shall lie to the High Court.
Context: Recently the Rajya Sabha passed the Family Courts
(Amendment) Bill, 2022.

• जबपक गािं ी ने भारि छो़िो का आह्वान पकया र्ा, यह नारा यसू फ ु
मेहरली द्वारा गढा गया र्ा, जो एक समाजवादी और रेर् यपू नयनवादी
र्े, पजन्होंने बॉम्बे के मेयर के रूि में भी काम पकया र्ा।
• कुछ साल िहले, 1928 में, मेहरली ने ही "साइमन गो बैक" का
नारा गढा र्ा।
मपहलाओ ं की भागीदारी
आंदोलन में मपहलाओ ं ने बढ-चढकर पहस्सा पलया। उर्ा मेहिा जैसी
मपहला नेिाओ ं ने एक भपू मगि रेपर्यो स्टेिन स्र्ापिि करने में मदद की
पजससे आंदोलन के बारे में जागरूकिा िैदा हुई।

The slogan ‘Quit India’
• While Gandhi gave the clarion call of Quit India, the slogan was
coined by Yusuf Meherally, a socialist and trade unionist who
also served as Mayor of Bombay.
• A few years ago, in 1928, it was Meherally who had
coined the slogan “Simon Go Back”.
Women Participation
Women took active participation in the movement. Female leaders
like Usha Mehta helped set up an underground radio station which
led to the awakening about the movement.
• Muslim League, the Communist Party of India and the Hindu
Mahasabha did not support the movement. The Indian
bureaucracy also did not support the movement.
• The League was not in favour of the British leaving India
without partitioning the country first.
• The Communist party supported the British since they were
allied with the Soviet Union.
The Hindu Mahasabha openly opposed the call for the Quit India
Movement and boycotted it officially under the apprehension that
the movement would create internal disorder and will endanger
internal security during the war.
Context – It was in news as India gears up to celebrate 75th year of
independence.

number that is used to identify a device on a mobile network. It
has 15 digits, and is like your phone’s unique identity.
• When you use the internet or place a call through your cellular
service provider, then this number is used to verify the identity
of your device.
If you have a dual SIM phone, then you will have two IMEI
numbers, one for each slot.
Context - Delhi Police is now planning to close ranks with internet
service providers and the department of telecommunications to
block stolen or robbed phones using IMEI number

इटं रनेिनल मोबाइल इपक्विमेंट आइर्ेंपटटी या IMEI एक यपू नक नंबर है
पजसका इस्िेमाल मोबाइल नेटवकथ िर पर्वाइस की िहचान करने के पलए
पकया जािा है। इसमें 15 अंक होिे हैं, और यह आिके फोन की पवपिष्ट
िहचान की िरह होिा है।

• Ordinances cannot be used to revoke the fundamental
rights of the citizens guaranteed by the Indian
Constitution.
• To stay a law, the Ordinance must be approved by
Parliament within six weeks of its reassembly. Its
existence is terminated if the parliament does not act
within six weeks of its reassembly.
• An ordinance has to be converted into legislation within
42 days of commencement of the Parliament session, or
else it will lapse. An ordinance can be re-promulgated
only thrice.
Context – The Governor of Kerala objected to re promulgation of

spirit of India over the past 75 years”.
• Ministry of Culture has launched “India ki Udaan”

Under the scheme, government will provide a subsidy of 25% on
