Your concept of what art is: Art is a result of human creativity in which materials are shaped or chosen to
convey an idea, emotion, or visually appealing form. Painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, decorative
arts, crafts, and other visual works that combine materials or forms are examples of visual arts. Art is the
application of skill and imagination to the creation of aesthetically pleasing objects that can be shared with
others. It entails arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions and serves as a means of
communication with the viewer by representing the artist's thoughts.

Using Venn diagram, compare and contrast the concepts of art according to Western thought and Filipino
notion of personhood or pagkatao. Explain briefly.

A. Individual Activity: Along the sidewalks or local shops around your area or in your house, find a native
Philippine product (work of art) such as basket, bracelet, hut, rags, textile, sandals, etc.

B. Make a documentation of the artifact: Where did you buy/get/find/borrow it? How much do you think it
costs? What is its local name? What is it made of? Its color, size, and other information?

My handmade anklet and necklace were purchased on the sidewalk of the

Bacolod City Government Center but it can be found on every street corner. The
anklet is only 50 pesos, and the necklace is only 100 pesos. It is designed with
paracord strands, beads, stones, small sea shells, and wood carvings.

C. Write a one-paragraph essay answering the question: How does the product or artifact express the
Filipino concept of art?

I believe that the object or artifact expresses the Filipino notion of art through its uniqueness since
Filipino items are traditional and may reflect art because they are so different from those produced by other
nations. The products and artifacts that Filipinos create are crucial in maintaining our nation's culture and
customs. Filipinos are tangible examples of our rich traditional culture, including our arts, abilities, and way of
life. Native items also symbolize the cultural significance of a neighborhood location or circumstance and
impart awareness of the circumstance. These indigenous items are offered using only natural, unprocessed
resources. We place great value on those who are deprived of native leisure. Native products are important for
the development of the country's economy activity. It creates more jobs for Filipinos, both large and small, by
promoting Filipino products. It contributes to the development of the Philippine economy and expands product
options. Purchasing from the Philippines gives you access to unique, healthy, innovative, and less expensive
products that are the result of healthy competition in the marketplace, and it encourages future investments.

Art is an expression that is made visible by a form. The expression of the form is an attempt to
communicate the unknown and unidentified. Our desire to create meaning is fundamental to who we are as
people, and art facilitates that process. To create meaning, we must first understand our surroundings and
then create our own experiences. Art is, at its core, an expression, and the artist is a communicator who
translates to convey meaning. Art is an expression; it expresses emotion, belief, and character. Art
communicates and translates, recognizes and reveals, transfers and intervenes. The apparent neatness and
deceptive simplicity of that sentence reflect its serious implications. Even when emotions, convictions, and
personality traits are difficult to summarize, art reflects them. The complexity that permeates human life is
reflected in all of our mental workings, experiences, feelings, beliefs, and personality traits.

Arts are cultural in nature. Humans are the creators of art, and everything they create is a part of
culture. Art becomes cultural when it represents people's way of life, religious beliefs, morals, and traditions,
among other things. Art is a type of creation. Art is something appealing that expresses important thoughts or
emotions and was created with imagination and talent. Humans, as is commonly stated, create art. There can
be no art without the human being who uses his or her imagination and creativity to create it. According to the
most basic definition of the term, an artist is simply someone who creates art.
