1. I believe carpal bone anatomy knowledge is important to my future career because it will help me
understand the structure of the human body from what is visible to the naked eye (gross anatomy)
down to the molecular level which is essential for understanding physiological function and how
illness or disease affects both structure and function in a way that it applies in medical field.
2. I believe that the 3 factors that have affected my retention of carpal bone anatomy are the
following: the use of mnemonics, clinical application of anatomy knowledge, and memorizing all
the bone parts or structures
3. To improve my retention of carpal bone anatomy, these 3 factors that could help are the following:
using of mnemonics (flashcards), Connect the word to the structure by visualizing it, practice using
real images of the carpal bone’s structure and memorize the meaning of terms/words by breaking
the word down to its simplest form that is easily recognizable to myself.
Caudal (a–c), cranial (d, e) and lateral (f, g) views of the proximal (b, d, f) and distal (c, e, g) tibia and
lateral (h1), distal (h2) and medial (h3) views of the malleolar (h1, h2, h3) in adult Saiga antelope.

The scale bar of the tibia (a) is 3 cm, the b-g are the enlarged views of the tibia. The scale bar of the
malleolar (h1, h2, h3) is 1 cm.
