does not take action but receives an
action.

Passive sentences are also used as


statements when the subject or
actor is not clearly known or
indicates that a subject is an
inanimate object.
Present Tense

DEFINITION USE OF TO BE AND V3


Sentences that contain things that are To be used consists of is, am, and are.
happening at the current time setting. In The verb used is in the form of a past
addition, it can also be used to express a participle or commonly referred to as V3
general habit and fact. (regular and irregular verb).
Formula & Example
POSITIVE NEGATIVE INTERROGATIVE

POSITIVE
I buy a book in the shop. -> A book is bought by me in the shop.

NEGATIVE
I do not love math. -> Math is not loved by me.

INTERROGATIVE
Does she eat my food? -> Is my food eaten by her?
Present Continuous

A form of tense that is used to state that an action is


taking place for a certain time at the present time. In
this sentence, there is no longer use of V-ing, but it is
replaced with V3 because V-ing has been replaced
with being.
Formula Example

S + to be + V-ing She is making a cake for me now. -> A cake is being by

NEGATIVE NEGATIVE
S + to be + not + V-ing My friends are not watching the film. -> The film is not

Past Tense

A sentence used to describe an event in the


past. This sentence is marked with an adverb
of time such as yesterday, last night, last
week, a few days ago, and so on. The auxiliary
verb used in this sentence is was/were.

Future Tense

Future tense is a verb tense that is used to talk about something that
will happen or will happen in the future.

Like other tenses, the future tense can also be detected from the
form of the verb and the auxiliaries used.
