Course Title: SU 201 English in the Digital Era

Credits: 3 (2-2-5) 4 periods/ week

Course Description:

Developing English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for everyday
communication; using English as a tool for self-directed learning in the digital era

Course Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students are expected to be able to:
1. listen and respond to information and stories in everyday life;
2. speak and initiate English conversations on familiar topics;
3. read information and stories on familiar topics in everyday life;
4. write simple connected texts on familiar topics;
5. use information technology as a tool for English communication and as a knowledge
search engine; and
6. devise a plan to improve English skills, identify learning strategies and sources for
self-directed learning, and track their progress.

Class Policies

1. This course is conducted primarily through active learning. This mode of

interactive learning allows students to perform various types of communicative activities with
teachers and peers, which ultimately promotes the learning process. Thus, it is important for
students to participate fully in every classroom activity.

2. Cheating and plagiarism are not tolerated. Any students caught cheating on exams
or assignments will result in a zero on assignments/tests, and a penalty of 5% from the final
grade. Please note that these are minimum penalties. At the instructor's discretion, more severe
penalties may be given/requested.
