Errors in Communication
⮚ Making Assumptions - To make an assumption is to think of something as true without
proof. An important aspect of good communication is to be sincere and honest to others
about what we are thinking.
⮚ Avoiding Communications - Communication problems often arise because we do not say
how we feel, what we think and what we want.
⮚ Labeling - To label someone is to give someone a word or phrase according to how we think
of them as revealed through their actions. Labeling often leads to quarrels because the labels
we give to others, especially when we are angry, are negative and offensive words.
⮚ Alienating Messages - This is the use of negative words, critical of other person. When
both persons use this kind of messages, no one wins and everybody feels bad.
