Q-2 You believe in the benefits of healthy eating and moderate exercise and promise yourself every day that you will
change your life style but at the end of the day you find yourself sitting in front of your laptop, munching junk food.
Referring to how people seek consistency in Ch 3, “Attitudes and Behaviors”, write down briefly, three strategies you
may use to seek consistency in your current dissonant state. 3 marks

Since I have specifically asked them to refer to a particular topic/heading from the chapter (in Ch 3, “Attitudes and Behaviors”,)
we should look for the answers which are according to the given information on pg 114.
According to that, the three strategies could be:

 One could either alter their attitude towards healthy living i-e they may convince themselves that we live once and there
is no harm in enjoying food you like so lets let go of the idea.

 Or, one could change their behavior which means you train yourself to stick to your original goal and avoid junk eating
etc

 Or, one can develop a rationalization for the discrepancy for example, one can convince oneself that since they are so
stressed out from studies, some binge eating is ok and wont harm much ( different students may give different
rationalizations, you just evaluate whether the rationalization makes sense or not).

 Full 3 marks could be given to answers very close to the above or evaluate accordingly.
