RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Review of Related Literature

The essence of work has shifted dramatically. Job loss is, of course, the

most severe and devastating transition. Another immediate change, as previously

mentioned, is that the majorities of information staff are now working from home

and will continue to do so for some time. While telework and working from home

are not new concepts, large percentages of entire organizations have never done

before, particularly for extended periods of time. In light of these extraordinary and

potentially long-lasting shifts.(Venkatesh, 2020).

The number of unemployed people has reached truly staggering levels and

it is one of the most severe economic problems, with far-reaching effects such as a

feeling of hopelessness and adverse reactions. Thus, the impact of job loss is more

far-reaching and the ways for the unemployed to seek work and for organizations to

fill openings may be drastically different. Furthermore, a recent proclamation by the

United States President has made it harder for foreign employees to find jobs (The

White House, 2020), which could pose additional challenges. As a result, COVID

has developed a slew of issues surrounding job loss, its consequences, and future

recovery.

13
SAINT WILLIAM’S SCHOOL OF SAN MARCELINO,
INC.

The nature of work has changed drastically for those who have been lucky

enough to remain gainfully working, with an unprecedented amount of remote

work. It is well established that implementing new technologies has a significant

effect on work characteristics. (e.g., Morris & Venkatesh, 2017) And it is

reasonable to assume that this will only increase as technology, which is new and

rapidly evolving, becomes a critical vehicle for all work and partnerships, especially

among employees who have previously been hesitant to engage in such remote

work.

While previous telework research is a good place to start, further research is

needed on evolving job characteristics (such as job demands and control) and

partnerships that expand on previous work in these domains/topics. In addition,

determining the types of workers are most or least affected, which types of

employees are most or least impacted, and how to quickly restore employee work

effectiveness without jeopardizing other job outcomes are all critical concerns that

should be examined.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researcher conducted a survey to (15) person about on their

occupations in Barangay Rabanes, San Marcelino, Zambales.
