INTRODUCTION
Architecture has been closely associated with
attention to the aesthetic aspect of buildings, in
addition to studying and distributing spaces well,
but some may overlook the greater role of
architecture, protection and safety. Attention to
emergency exits is one of the most important
safety methods that architecture focuses on. For
emergency exits to be highlighted and easy to
distinguish from the rest of the building
components, a special type of lighting was
provided to enable the building to meet fire
safety.
What is
Emergency
Lighting?
It is the type of lighting that is available in case of
emergency even when there is no current. Natural
lighting is usually lost due to a fire. Emergency
lighting operates automatically to enable all
occupants to safely evacuate the building. They
are often designed and located by the architect.

buildings such as museums
and shopping centers. These

High risk task lighting
High risk task lighting is a
specific type of emergency
lighting provided to ensure
the safety of people involved
in a potentially dangerous
process or situation. It must
be sufficient to enable the
requisite shut-down
procedures to be
implemented. This type of
lighting will only apply
across a limited range of

Ground floor Plan Shows emrgency lights
in addition to evacuted and
extangutishing signs .

▪ The plan shows the use escape route

lighting to illuminates exit .

▪ The emergency lights are mainly spread at

hallways.

▪ There is emergency lighting at the

emergency staircase.

Emergency Lights
Analysis
▪ There is at least 3 of emergency lights in the
large hall and two emergency exits, because
its area is large, and also so that children can
notice them faster.

▪ Emergency lighting and exits are made clear

and direct enough so that children can pay
attention to them.

Analysis
Figure 2-4 Emergency light location near to the stairs
▪ There is emergency lighting at the stairs to
clarify the difference in levels. As shown in the
pictures, there is more emergency exit with
guiding lighting to reduce congestion at one
exit and therefore to ensure the exit and
safety of the largest number of people.

Conclusion
The main objectives of having emergency lighting when the main lighting system stops
can be summarized in the following points:
• Evacuate buildings easily without danger.
• Carrying out dangerous operations and ensuring their peaceful end.
• Reducing cases of fear and achieving conditions for visual comfort.
Finally, it should be noted that, each individual building will have its own particular
requirements when it comes to emergency illumination. Even within a building, the
needs will vary from one part to another.
