One bag contains 6 white and 5 black balls. Another bag contains 5 white and 3 black balls. One
ball is transferred from first bag to the second bag without noticing its colour and then a ball is
drawn from the second bag. Find the probability that the ball drawn is white.

A bag contains 5 white, 7 red and 3 black balls. If 3 balls are drawn one-by-one without
replacement, then find the probability that none is red.

Three urns are given, each containing red and black balls as indicated below :

Urn I : 6 red and 4 black balls

Urn II : 2 red and 6 black balls

Urn III : 1 red and 8 black balls.

An Urn is chosen at random and a ball is drawn from the Urn. The ball drawn is red. Find the
probability that the ball drawn is either from Urn II or from Urn III.

(a) A television manufacturer finds that the total cost for the production and marketing of x
number of television sets is: C(x)=300𝑥 +4200x+13500. Each product is sold for Rs
8,400.Determine the break-even point.

(b) The marginal cost function of manufacturing x units of a commodity is given by MC = 3𝑥 –
8x + 5. The total cost of producing one unit of the product is Rs 12. Find the total cost
function and the average cost function.

(a) The data for marks in Physics and History obtained by ten students are given below,

(5,4), (6,3) , (7,2). Find an estimate of y for x = 2.5.

Question 22 [4]

A company manufactures two types of toys A and B . A toy of type A requires 5 minutes for
cutting and 10 minutes for assembling . A toy of type B requires 8 minutes for cutting and 8 minutes
for assembling . There are 3 hours available for cutting and 4 hours available for assembling the toys
in a day. The profit is Rs 50 each on a toy A and Rs 60 each on a toy of type B . How many toys of
each type should the company manufacture in a day to maximize the profit ? Use linear
programming to find the solution.
