Interviewer: Good afternoon ma'am! First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I'm Ma. Bethel Joy Flores
Labayan, a BS Civil Engineering first-year student. I'm so thankful ma'am because imohang gi accepted ang
akong request ( you accepted my request) for this interview. The purpose of conducting the interview ma'am is to
identify the needs of our community related to civil engineering. So as you can see ma'am naa tay phone dri ( we
have a phone there) to properly document the dynamics on how I conduct the interview. But don't be worried po
ma'am because the information that I'll be collecting will be confidential and also your identity ma'am will remain
anonymous.
So let's start the question and answer ma'am?
Interviewee: Sure!
Interviewer: So the first question is, What problem have you encountered in the community related to civil
engineering?
Interviewee: Uhm based on my experience uhm whenever we visit our grandma uhm mag lisod gyud mi sa dalan
especially kay deli continuous dayonn putol putol tapos if magulan, maglapok gyud siya unya dghan kaayug bato
and then I remembered na wlay street light ddto. I don't know if that's part of civil engineering but yeah murag
prone jd kaayu sya sa accident kay walay street light tas putolputol ang dalan tapos digyas pajod. Mao rana
(Based on my experience, whenever we visit our grandma. We have difficulties on the road because it is not
continuous and if there is rain, it is a mud and rocky road. I also remember there's no signal light there I don't
know if that's part of civil engineering but yeah it's prone to an accident because of there's no signal light and
slippery)
Interviewer: Nganu kaha gaexist na nga mga difficulties ma'am? ( Why do these difficulties exist ma'am?)
Interviewee; Maybe because Uhm, lack siya ug funds sa government. Lack sya ug funds sa government and then
kanang if wla mn moy kanang mahatag nga budget sa national dri sa local wala poy mabuhat ang local para
mahimo jud na sya. Although necessary jud na sya na mahuman pero pag walay budget, dli gyud na sya
mahuman (Maybe because of lack of funds from the government. Then if the national government didn't give a
budget to the locals, the locals couldn't make the project happen).
Interviewer: yes ma'am. The third question ma'am is how these issues affect you as an individual?
Interviewee: Seguro kay dli ko taga ddto ( Maybe because I'm not local there) I'm not affected by the issue. Pero,
if kuan gaadto mi ddto Kay kuan lisod jud sya Kay. Isa pd sya sa gapataas sa pliti ddto. Libaong pa gali ang dalan
and then layo pajd yeah (But, if I'm going there it's really hard to go there and also the fare is high because it is a
rough road and far).
Interviewer: How do these complications affect other people?
Interviewee: uhm if I were in this sure sa gapuyo ddto(to those living there) Uhm maybe ang usually man gd nila
trabaho ddto is gatubo, gamais and it's really hard to sell their products to the market kay wala kaayu gasulod
didto sakyan ay lisod kaayu ang dalan and then uhm wla pod kaayu source nga kanang ddto btaw sla mag
baligya, kailangan jud sila moadto sa sentro so ang dalan jud ang main problem ddto na community ( The usually
work of people there is farming like sugarcane and corn and it's really hard to sell their products to the market
because it is frequently that vehicles go there because of the road. And there's also no source of goods there, you
need to go to the city to buy that's why roads are the main problem in those communities).
Interviewer: Okay po ma'am.thank you, ma'am. So the last question is how do you cope up with this situation?
Interviewee: Seguro ako dili kaayu ko ka-relate sailahang problema kay dli man ko taga ddto. Pero if tan awon
nako ilang situation Uhm maybe because na anad na sila and then nakabuhat na silang alternative way to deal
with the problem. It's either akong nakabantayan gabutang silang graba sa mga lapok para pag mag ulan dli
kaayu pisik ug danlog. So anad anad lang. And they already have their ways as techniques in dealing with the
problems. (I'm sure I can't relate to the problem because I'm not local there. But if I look at their situation, uhm
maybe because they are used to it and then they have made an alternative way to deal with the problem . It's
either, I noticed that they put gravel in the mud so that when it rains, it's not slippery. So just get used to it. And
they already have their ways as techniques in dealing with the problems).
Interviewer: okay. Ma'am and Thank you so much ma'am for accepting and for participating in this interview.
Kabalo ko ma'am na busy ka ( I know that you're busy), but you still give me time para iconduct( to conduct) this
interview ma'am. Thank you kaayu ( so much) ma'am. And maam basen gusto kag copy sa atong interview
ma'am ( maybe you want some copy of our interview ma'am)?
Interviewee: no okay ra, I don't mind.
Interviewer: okay ma'am thank you kaayu(so much) ma'am
Interviewee: Sure. any time

Interviewee: Good afternoon

Interviewee: okay
Interviewer: Let's start with the question and answer ma'am?
Interviewee: Okay
Interviewer: I prepared five questions, ma'am. The first question is what problems have you encountered within
the community related to civil engineering?
Interviewee: Uhm the problem that I encountered related to civil engineering is like, house or buildings collapse
when there is an earthquake.
Interviewer: yes ma'am. Why do these difficulties exist?
Interviewee: It exists because some houses and buildings are not constructed by civil engineers and some
materials that the constructor used are not strong in building houses or building
Interviewer: The third question ma'am is how do these issues affect you as an individual?
Interviewee: As an individual, it really affects me, negatively it makes me feel scared because ga-overthink ko
every time nga basen mag lindol and magcollapse among house or buildings nga akong adtoan ( I do overthink
every time that maybe earthquake happens and my house or buildings were I am collapse).
Interviewee: Okay ma'am. Next, is, How do these complications affect other people, ma'am?
Interviewee: I think just like me, they also have negative thinking nga basen mocollapse ang building or house na
ilang ginastayhan.
Interviewer: The last question ma'am is. How do you cope up with this situation?
Interviewee: To cope with this situation, we should do a consultation or hire civil engineering if we plan to build
houses or building
Interviewer: okay. Thank you so much for your answers ma'am and thank you so much for your participation. I
know that you're a busy person but you gave me time in answering my questions properly ma'am. Do you want a
copy of our interview ma'am?
Interviewee: No thanks
Interviewer: Okay po ma'am. Thank you so much po

Interviewer: Good evening sir!

Interviewee: Good evening to you as well.
Interviewer: Good evening so first of all, I would like to introduce myself. I'm Ma. Bethel Joy Flores Labayan, a BS
Civil Engineering first-year student.
Thank you so much sir for accepting my request in conducting this interview. I know that you're so busy right now
with your acads but still, you give me time and participate in this interview.
Interviewee: No worries Miss Bethel Joy. It is my pleasure.
Interviewer: So the purpose of conducting this interview sir is to identify the needs of a community related to civil
engineering. The whole conversation sir will be video recorded to properly document the dynamics and how I
conduct the interview but don't be worried because all the information that I'll be collected will be confidential and
also your identity sir will remain anonymous.
So let's start sir with our question and answer?
Interviewee: oh sure sure
Interviewer: The first question sir is what problems have you encountered within the community related to civil
engineering?
Interviewee: So as a commuter, the issues with the community that I ran the most are those involving road
widening and some sort of national highway road innovations. I have been having these problems every time I
commute to my destination. Mao rana( that's all).
Interviewer: Why do these difficulties exist sir?
Interviewee: In my opinion, this is the result of road degradation and due to their age and fragility. And because of
this, the roads needed to be renovated and repaired. I believe that the government plans to widen ways to enable
smooth economic transactions. I know that it is an issue right now but I believe that this will work to our advantage
in the long run.
Interviewer: How do these issues affect you as an individual sir?
Interviewee: I am a student who commutes every time I go to school and this problem affects me in the way that it
produces traffic and being in traffic means being delayed which is why I frequently arrive late to school and that is
my major concern about this problem.
Interviewer: How do these complications or issues affect other people?
Interviewee: I believe that other commuters might experience exactly what I do and in my opinion, they are the
most affected ones because some commuters are workers who must be on their job on time.
Interviewer: The last question sir is how do you cope up with the situation?
Interviewee: I realized that the key to solving this issue was to arrive early as a result I am arriving at the terminal
an hour earlier than usual to avoid traffic because the sooner you go, the fewer vehicles on the road.
Interviewer: Thank you so much, sir. So that's all sir. Thank you so much for your full participation. I know you're a
busy person but still, you participate. Do you want a copy of our interview sir?
Interviewee: it’s fine. It’s fine
Interviewer: Thank you so much, Sir!

Interviewer: Good afternoon ma'am. First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I'm Ma. Bethel Joy Flores
Labayan, a BS Civil Engineering first-year student. Thank you so much for accepting my request in conducting
this interview. The purpose of conducting this interview ma'am is to identify the needs of our community related to
civil engineering. And as you can see ma'am. We used to phone there to properly document the dynamics on how
I conducted this interview. But don't be worried because all the data, and the idea that I collected will remain
confidential, and also your identity ma'am will still be anonymous. So let's start with our question and answer
ma’am?
Interviewee: Sure
Interviewer: So the first question ma’am is what problems have you encountered within the community related to
civil engineering?
Interviewee: This problem is the main problem of our community which is our kalsada (road). Ang among dalan
nga wala pa na siminto hantod ron na dugay na gisaaran. Mao gyud na among problema nya syempre uhm living
in our community mao gyud ang among problema, lapok specially karun nga naa nay face-to-face class need jud
namo ang sakto na dalan para pd sa amo. aside sa path namo kana pong mag Ian sa among mga transportation
mag lisod gyud me special sa among pamilya na naay buros. Need namo ug secure ug kanang maayu nga
transportation padulong sa among padulngan so Mao jd na among problem ang among kalsada. (Our road that
has not been paved until now has been promised for a long time. That's our problem, of course, uhm living in our
community that's our problem, mud especially now that there is a face-to-face class, we need the right way for us.
Aside from our path, it will be difficult for Ian in our transportation, especially in our family that has pregnant
women. We need secure and good transportation to our destination, so our road is our problem).
Interviewer: How do you think ma’am these issues exist?
Interviewee: Maybe because ang amoang kanang leader is lack of financial mao seguro. (Maybe because of lack
financial our leaders).
Interviewer: How do these issues affect you as an individual po?
Interviewee: Me as a student, it affects me because ako mag face to face gasakay ko pa ko ay gabaklay pako
ayha musakay, bag o kaayu akong shoes bag o akong sinana and then moagi ko sa dalan na wala pa na siminto
nya that why pag abot dayn sa school kay hugaw nako. I need jd na tarong na dalan and simintado na dalan. (Me
as a student, it affects me because I go to face to face classes and I hesitate to ride, I have a bag or a nice shoes
bag or I wear a dress and then I pass on the road that has no pavement yet. That's why when I got to school I was
dirty. I need a straight paved road).
Interviewer: The fourth question ma’am is how do these complications affect other people?
Interviewee: Same as me. kinahanglan nilag tarong na dalan para sailang transportation and also neat pd biya
lantawon if tarong sd ang atong dalan naka simintado ug kung ang atong dalan kay gitrabaho. diba? mao na siya.
(Same as me. They need a straight road for their transportation and also neat to see if our road is straight and
paved and if our road is being worked on. right? That's why.
Interviewer: Yes ma'am. The last question maam is how do you cope up with the situation?
Interviewee: I cope with this situation by my own mechanism.
Interviewer: By what mechanism ma’am?
Interviewee: such as mukuan ko sakong kaugalingon nga path. Maghimo kog kaugalingon na path nga dli ko ma
lapok (such as I will take my own path. I will make my own path so that I will not be muddy).
Interviewer: Okay ma’am, and that's all.
Do you want some copy of our interview ma’am?
Interviewee: No need na
Interviewer: Noted ma'am. Thank you so much ma’am for giving me your time and for participating in this
interview ma’am. Your answers will help me in my next activity. Thank you so much, ma'am and Godbless
Interviewee: You’re welcome
