• Executes new applications for situational awareness: CHARTS & MAPS
– All functions reside within the DU
– CHARTS: provides approach charts, airport maps, SIDs, STARs and Noise procedures.
– MAPS: provides the display of FMS moving map over geopolitical boundaries.
» Integrated picture enhances the situational awareness of the crew
» Two user-selectable display modes: North-Up and Heading-Up
» Allows user to display lateral info appropriate to current a/c operating situation
• XM Wx: Source for Uplinked Weather Displays
• Video
– 2 combined NTSC/PAL/RS-170 inputs
– 1 RIB (digital video) input
– DU provides video ports. Video control allows display of one selected video input port.
– Video images are fixed size and cannot be zoomed. The entire image will fit within the page
(no scrolling is necessary) and may be rotated 90 degs.
– Video select drop down to allow the selection of video source.
– Can support up to 8 cameras when using a multiplexer.

Loading Data for Charts and Maps


• Get your subscription set up with our GDC Global Data Center
• Bi-weekly updates of 300MB chart database (“Blue” CD)
• Download files from your Internet account (Or take the Blue and Red
CDs received from Honeywell)
• Run the Honeywell tool software to pre-process the data for the DL-
1000 format
• Insert the SD card or USB stick in the DL-1000 and select MENU,
DATA, LOAD.
• FMS Loading unchanged – uses RS-422 dedicated to each FMS
• DL-1000 DU Loading uses FTP over TCP/IP Ethernet 100Base-T
• FMS NAV Database can reside on same media with either Charts or
Maps database.
– FMS and Charts/Maps Database Must Have Unique Filenames
– DL-1000 loading method does not allow Charts and Maps databases to
reside on same media device simultaneously.

Simply initiates the database file
update separately on each MFD.
After the first DU update is started,
the other DU is selectable to begin
the next update.
– NOTE: Do not remove the SD card
or flash drive while the dataload is in
progress. This would require
reinitiating the load.

7) Percentage counter increments

A full reload will be required if
stopped or one file failed to load.

- There is about 88 files to load for


Blue CD (CHARTS) and 24 files for
Red CD (MAPS).

- Load time is about 7 and 3 mn


respectively.

– New advisories, visual alerting on terrain display and G/S Cancel button
muting differentiate from original RAAS

– improved situational awareness for the flight crew
– provides timely aural and visual messages during taxi, takeoff
(including rejected takeoffs), final approach, and landing/roll-out

– advises crew in case of non-stabilized approaches and the potential for
