My name is Brennan Hallock and I am inquiring about the School Counselor position that I saw posted on the
Mesa Public Schools website. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Psychology in
2011. After years of working as a banking center manager, I decided to get back to my roots and pursue
something that truly inspires me, education. I have been working in the Higley Unified School District for the past
five years, at Higley High School for one year as a Paraprofessional and at Sossaman Middle School for six years
as a Spanish teacher. I recently completed my Masters of Educational Administration program. I have passed
both of the AEPA Principal Subtests and have my Principal Certificate for the State of Arizona. I am also
currently pursuing a Master’s in School Counseling at Chadron State College. I am in my first of two years for the
program.

Although I love my teaching career and working with students in the classroom, I am seeking to advance my
career in the education field by pursuing a career as a School Counselor. I have worked closely with our school
counselor for the past six years and I have enjoyed seeing the intricacies of what goes on behind the scenes on a
school campus and how culture is developed. For that reason I would like to be considered for a School
Counselor position in your district.
