Reflection

Conducting the job search was the easiest part of the assignment for me. This

last spring and summer I had been looking for a job in school counseling here in

Arizona and I was able to find and secure one! Because of that search, I knew several

school districts that would have the job descriptions available for me to find and

provide for this assignment.

Creating the five questions for the interview was also fairly easy because I

had interviewed at two schools this last spring and I was able to recall some of the

questions I had at the time. I was also able to create some new questions now about

things I am not sure about my current role at my school. These are questions I can

now ask my employer to be sure that I am fulfilling my part of the principal’s goal

and vision for our school in regards to counseling.

The resume portion of this assignment did require me to do some editing.

From the reading I learned that I really needed to condense my resume and make it

look cleaner, using bullet points. I think this is a great change to make to my existing

resume because it is easy to read and is now more visibly attractive to a manager or

employer. They can read key points, responsibilities, and accomplishments at a

glance, rather than having to read the resume in its entirety.

My partner for this assignment was Scott Hesla. He was great! He had his

work to me on time and he really followed the guidelines we were provided. There

were very few changes I suggested to him. We were both very kind as we offered

suggestions. Our exchange was very positive and we both accepted the critique

graciously.

The biggest suggestion that Scott had for me was to make sure that my

resume was concise and used bullet points. I really appreciated this as I could tell

that Scott had my best interest in mind. He was direct and kind as he gave his input.

After receiving and implementing his feedback, I am confident that I have submitted

quality work that is acceptable for this course.
