Theoretical framework

This chapter presents the theoretical framework of this research. Appropriate theories as well as previous

research supporting the study on discussed.

Numerous academics have undertaken experiments to determine the variables that influence how well

messenger communication impacts grade 12 HUMSS 7 learning.

According to McMillan and Chavis (1986), sense of community is essential to both mankind and the

realm of online education (Rovai, 2009). (2009) Rovai has a method that has been used in empirical research

for a number of qualitative and quantitative investigations involving online students. According to Rovai's

(2009) findings, a student's impression of involvement in the learning process matters and can eventually

affect the learning achievement outcome and happiness of students enrolled in a particular online course

(Rovai, 2009)

Nearly 1 out of every 5 minutes spent online, according to a 2011 comScore report, is spent on social

networking sites. Social networking sites presently have 1.2 billion users worldwide, or 82% of the world's

online population (comScore.com, 2011). In terms of global engagement, social networking was the most

popular content category (comScore.com, 2011).

A private learning community for classrooms has been developed using Facebook Messenger (Harrison

and Thomas, 2009). These learning environments give students the chance to talk about particular subjects

or engage in conversations with their peers that the teacher can intervene in and moderate to assist direct the

conversation.
Conceptual Framework

The analysis started by taking into account the Grade 12 HUMSS 7 students’ personal profile, the

effectiveness of messenger communication on the learnings of grade 12HUMSS 7. The profile includes sex,

age, location and socio - economic status. Location of residence categorize into: (a) rural and (b) urban

while the socio - economic status is categorize into: (a) family income, (b) parent’s education level and (c)

parents occupational prestige.

Grade 12 humss 7 students perception towards the effectiveness of messenger communication on

learnings of humss students were determined, and also, identified factors like: (a) internet (b) cellphones

affect most the effectiveness of messenger communication on the learnings of gr 12 humss 7 students.

Scope and delimitation

The main purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of messenger communication on the

learnings of the student. The study considers the students personal information such as: their names

( optional), gender, age and socio- economic status.

The researchers limkited the study to 40 gr12 HUMSS 7 students enrolled in the Victorias National High

School year 2022- 2023. The researchers will conduct a survey with the participants, also the results and

discussion are going to be supported their responses.
