TOPIC 3: UNDERSTANDING COMMUNITY THROUGH ITS PROCESS

A leader is an important figure in the community. Leader must posses important characteristics
such as:

1.Effective communication- an open communication is highly recommended for leaders and their
constituents. There should be free access to important information concerning social issues and
public matter.

- is the process of exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data so that the
message is received and understood with clarity and purpose. Open communication is a must in
order for the leaders and constituents to have free access to informations concerning social issues
and public matters for people to keep updated.

For example: A meeting of officers of humss 7 for the upcoming competition for room decoration

So now lets watch and listen the role play that we prepare that shows on how effective communication happen

“A meeting of officers of humss 7 for the upcoming competition for room decoration”

President : Good morning officers! Kaya ako andito sa inyong harapan dahil tayo ang mag pupulong para sa
darating na paligsahan na pagandahan ng dekorasyon ng bawat silid aralan. At ito ay sisimulan natin sa
paghahanda sa mga gagamitin natin para dito.

Officer 1 : So ano ang mga kakailanganin natin para dito?

President : Ito ay mga curtains, balloons, shower curtain, papel de hapon, double sided tape, kayo guys? Baka may
mga ideas kayo dyan na maibabahagi?

Officer 2 : I think mas maganda pag mag papadevelop tayo ng mga pictures nating mga magkaklase saka kasama si
maam tapos ilalagay sa mga balloons para mas lalong maging maganda sa mata.

President : Oh that’s a great idea rose! So what do you think guys? Sang ayon ba kayo?

ALL: ( TANGO) YES!

Officer 3 : ( HANDS UPS) May I also recommend ? What if gumawa dn tayo ng surpresa para sa ating guro? Para
mas lalo nyang appreciate ito?

Officer 2 : ( tango) And bumili nlng din tayo ng cake at saka mga makakain natin sa araw na iyon

Officer 1 : Oo nga no? What do you think pres?

President : Yes of course then gagawin din natin yan, so guys settled na ba? Or meron pa kayong idadagdag or
mga ideas dyan?

ALL: ( iling) no pres okay na

President : Okay then thank you sa inyong pakikibahagi ng inyong mga ideas and thoughts and dahil dyan ay mas
napadali ang ating pagpupulong saka paghahanda para sa darating na paligsahann at dito nagtatapos ang ating
pagtitipon tipon, maraming salamat ulit!
2. DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL CAPITAL BUILDING - developing a resilient capital is among the
most important contributors to successful community leader.
-Social capital for communities refers to establishing trust-based networks. That means not just
establishing strong connections, but reinforcing the quality of those relationships among families,
communities and organizations.

3. Community Engagement - it is important to encourage young leaders to participate so that they

are ready to take over when the time comes.

-it is a resilient capital is among young leaders the most important contributors to successful
leadership

For example:. A SK Chairwoman who engage a tree planting and cleaning the river to avoid flash
floods and to reduce the rise water. She encourage the young people's to participate the program
and she conduct a meeting between young people about the program that she conduct.

ngayon?

Participants: ako po alam ko Chairwoman,narinig ko po na mag co-conduct kayo ng tree planting at

pag lilinis sa ilog.

Sk ( MERYL): yes, well said.

Participants: chairwoman Anu po ang tree planting?

Sk : Tree planting is the process of transplanting tree seedlings, generally for forestry,land
reclamation,or landscaping purposes.

Participants : ah! Ganun Pala.

Sk : Kaya ako nag conduct ng programang ito dahil mabilis na umaapaw ang tubig sa ilog at
maraming ka-barangay natin ang laging lubog sa baha kapag malakas ang ulan at mabilis ang
pagtaas ng tubig.Nais ko kayong lumahok at maki-tulong sa programang ito para matulongan ang
ating mga ka-barangay. Maari kayong mag Dala ng maliliit na punong kahoy dahil Yun ang itatanim
natin sa tani ng ilog at pang linis na kagamitan para makuha ang lahat ng basura sa ilog. Inaasahan
ko ang iyong cooperation sa programang ito.

Participants: Ganun ba chairwoman Sige maasahan mo kami sasali kami sa programang iyong
inilulunsad hindi lang para sa amin bagamat para narin matulongan ang ating ka-barangay at para
sa kapakanan ng lahat nang nandito sa ating barangay.
