Powerpoint presentation. If the
students thinks that the statement
follows the correct subject-verb

Since most of you are not familiar about
Past, present, future progressive tense, so
bear with me this morning as we discuss
about this progressive tense.

III. Statement of the Aim

At the end of lesson, the students

must have:
a. Identified the progressive tenses
and its function used in the
sentence;
b. Constructed sentences using the
given topics about the progressive
tenses.
c. Value the importance of past,
present and future.

2. Interaction
Activity 1

To start our discussion, let us have an

activity. The title of this activity is “Inform
the information”

Please read the mechanics

“Inform the Information”

1. Divide the class into 3 groups

2. Provide each group with a specific
topic and information sheet.

Group 1- Past Progressive tense

Group 2.- Present Progressive tense
Group 3- Future Progressive tense.
3. The group will be reporting the topic
given in 10 minutes minimum and 15
minute maximum.
Okay class, let us start our reporting. Let’s
begin with group 1. Past Progressive tense
Expected answers
Group 1.

The past continuous tense, also known as the

past progressive tense, refers to a continuing
action or state that was happening at some point
in the past. The past continuous tense is formed
by combining the past tense of to be (I.e.,
was/were) with the verb’s present participle (ing
word).
Okay. There are many situations in which
this verb tense might be used in a
sentence. For example, it is often used to
describe conditions that existed in the past.
Can someone in your group will give an
example? Example:

1. The sun was shining (Past Progressive

tense) every day that summer.
2. As I spoke, the children were laughing
(Past progressive tense) at my
cleverness.

It can also be used to describe something

that was happening continuously in the past
when another action interrupted it.

Example.

1. The audience was applauding until he fell

off the stage.
Thank you group 1. To sum up their report
Past Progressive Tense or also known as That’s all sir.
past continous tense, the past progressive is
a form of the past tense where an action
goes on for a period in the past . The past
for the verb ‘to be’ as an auxiliary verb and
by adding the suffix ‘-ing’ to the main verb.
For example,
“My teacher was drinking a cup of tea”

Here we see that the action (drinking) went

on for a period of time. We use the past form
of the verb ‘to be’(was) to indicate that the
action took place in the past, and the present
participle of the main verb (drinking) to
indicate that this is a continuous or
progressive action.
Yes sir.
Are we clear about the report of group 1
class?
Expected answer
Group 2.
Now lets proceed to group 2. Present
Progressive Tense.
We explain what present progressive tense for
you to easily understand our report.

The present progressive tense (sometimes called

the present continuous) is a tense which
describes an action which began in the past and
and still going on now.
The present progressive requires a present form
of the verb ‘to be’ and the ‘-ing’ form of the
main verb.

Example

1. She(subject) is doing (Present) a funny

walk.
2. Ali (subject)is swimming(present) in the
pool.
That’s all sir.

In that example class, the verb ‘to be’ is in

the present and agrees with the subjects of
each. The main verb is presented in the
present participle ‘-ing’ form as it’s a
continuous action.
Remember class, any sentence that uses ‘is’
‘or’ ‘are’ and then a verb with the ‘-ing’
suffix is PRESENT PROGRESSIVE
TENSE.
Expected answer
Very good group 2. Now lets proceed to the Group 3. Future Progressive tense
last reporter Group 3. Future Progressive
tense The future continuous tense, sometimes also
referred to as the future progressive tense, is a
verb tense that indicates that something will
occur in the future and continue for an expected
length of time. It is formed using the
construction will + be+ the present participle
(the root verb + -ing).

The simple future tense is a verb tense that is

used when an action is expected to occur in the
future and be completed. For example, let's
suppose you have a meeting tomorrow at five
o’clock.

Example

“I will arrive at five o’clock”

I will arrive is the simple future tense of the

verb to arrive. You arrive once; beyond that,
you can't keep on arriving. However, once you
get there, you may be doing something that goes
on continuously, at least for a certain period of
time.

To add, this future progressive tense is used That’s all sir.

to indicate a future event that will be
progressive. It follows a general formula of
will + to be+ verb (ending in –ing)

Another example, “ The children will be

walking to school” you can see how “will
be” tells us that this is a future event, and
“walking” here indicates a continuous event.

Do you understand now the progressive Yes Sir.

tenses?

Perfect!

3. Integration
A. Application

Now, in order to check if you have

understood the topic, let us have a short
activity, this activity is called
“REMEMBER ME”

the three-group reporter.
2. Choose the correct letter answer in
every number.
3. The students will be given 5 minutes
to answer the activity. Expected answer

Value Integration

Now class I will ask you about this, if you

were given a chance to enter a time machine
where will you enter? The past, present or the
future?

Yes please Ms. Aljas If I have the chance to go back in time I will go
back to my past because I want to fix my
mistakes that I've done before and I will hug my
father very tight cause I miss him so much.
That is very emotional Ms. Aljas

How about you Ms? I will go fast forward to my future so that I will
be oriented on what I am going to do in my
present.
Thank you so much.
I am so much in love in my present and I would
Yes, Ms Dumalagan?
not enter to that time machine, even I made
mistakes in my past though I regret it, but I am
happy cause I learn from those mistakes, and I
wouldn’t go to my future cause it will not give
challenging when I face problems and I am
scared of what I can see in the future. So, I am
happy to my present with my loved ones.
Very good idea class! I am so much love
with your opinion about the topic. For me the
past that has brought you to be this person
you are right now. It’s basically your
childhood and the way you were raised, what
you learned, important experiences and so
on.What about the present? In this very
moment you are making choices and
decisions that will not only the change the
now but the future as well, the present is
important because it's happening right now
and anything you do now can change what
happens later. How important is your future?
The future is important for the dreams and
hopes to keep you going to have goals and
something to look forward towards to keep
progressing.
So out of the three, learn from the past,
prepare for the future, but as much as you can
try to be present in the present.
