Medicines Management mentorship and delivery verification for NMS cycle 2
Introduction:
MoH and IPs facilitates MMS to conduct support supervision on Medicines management, verification of
NMS deliveries, and Timely Ordering and reporting to National Medical Stores on bi monthly basis.
With Support from USAID PACT Karamoja through Infectious Disease Institute (IDI), the MMS was
facilitated to carryout mentorship on medicines management and logistics reporting in November 2022
in TB accredited health facilities in Moroto district i.e. Kakingol HC II, St. Pius Kidepo HC III, Nakiloro
HC II, Nadunget HC III, Nakapelimen HC II, Lotirir HC II, Loputuk HC III, Kosiroi HC II, Rupaa HC II,
Tapac HC III.
Methodology:
The MMS’ mapped the facilities according to the geographical locations and routing. The in charges,
store personnel and TB focal persons were notified prior to the visit in order to prepare the reporting
tools.

Achievements
- JMS cycle 6 orders for PNFP facilities compiled
- All the order and requisition orders entered into the DHIS 2
- Most facilities stock management has improved
- Most stores have FPs in charge of the medicine stores
Challenges
- Over stock of INH 300mg in some facilities
- Stock cards in completeness in some facilities
- The 5s strategy not implemented in some facilities
Recommendations
- In charges to notify DHO for redistribution of over stock items
- FP to conduct end of month physical count
- Expired medicines to be taken to general store
