This activity sheet focuses on making a stand. You will be able to form an opinion,

and explain your reasons in certain topic. Below are the activities with regard to this

topic. Read the instructions in every activity and answer the questions that follow.

Activity 1

Read and understand the statement below.

To make a stand is to determined effort to defend something or to stop

something from happening. The key is to completely believing in the topic yourself

because if you don't believe in what you're telling or writing, how can you convince

the listener or someone else. There is no right or wrong positions, since everyone is

entitled to stand in their own opinion.


Taking a stand means to voice your opinion on issues that are happening. To

make a stand is to determine effort to agree or disagree, to defend something and to

oppose or commend something.

Here are the tips on how you can make a stand:

1. Look at your own experiences.

2. Collect information about the topic. Always base your opinion on facts.

3. Know what is right and wrong. Always be on the right side.

4. Narrate your opinion properly by stating all your reasons.

The key is to completely believe in the topic. If you do not believe what you are

telling, you cannot convince the listener or the reader.

Remember the formula: Information + personal experiences = your stand

Activity 2
