I grew up with a broken family, my grandparents raised me together with my younger sister.

They supported me from elementary until I graduated high school. My grandparents can't send
me to college that's why I went to my mother to help me financially in pursuing my college
degree. I don't want to leave my grandparents but If I do not go with my mother, she will not
help me financially in my studies. I know that if I stay with my mom, I can finish my studies and
get the degree I want.

I can relate this to utilitarianism because utilitarianism favors behaviors that increase an
individual's happiness and well-being. A morally right or wrong action appears to be morally
right or bad under utilitarianism. The utilitarians think that the aim of mortality is to improve life
by increasing the number of good things in the world, such as pleasure and happiness, and
decreasing the number of bad things, such as pain and sadness.

The utilitarian philosophy advocates the idea that an action is right if it contributes to happiness.
My decision in staying my mother’s side is morally good even we are not on good terms,
whatever the relationship we have the important thing that I look forward to is to come up with a
good result or outcome. I’m staying so that I can graduate, and this is what makes me happy.

In my case, I choose to be with my mom because first, I'm not going to worry about paying my
tuition. Second, I can finish my studies, and lastly, I can get the job that I want that someday will
help me for my future and by that, I can also help my family and give them the life that they
deserve.
