3. What seems to have been the intention of the author’s account?

- Tavera’s intention why he wrote cavity munity was because he believed that the
Spanish friars used the Cavite Mutiny as a powerful lever by raising it as a full-fledged
conspiracy involving not only the native people of the Philippines but especially that
the residents of Cavite and Manila. He also wrote it to overthrow the Spaniards because
he had an appreciation for the Philippines. His intention was also to find out what had
happened during their time. He wrote this to find out what powerful people could do
such as government soldiers killing the participants in the uprising and beginning to
suppress the emerging nationalist movement in the Philippines.
