1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The first strategy is to sell something that most Malaysian people require, as the product
is more focused selling on Sunday Market. Instead of using offline sales, online sales also
used, resulting in a hybrid system that makes it easier to locate customers. From the
observation, fruits and vegetables are the most common food for Malaysian used as
ingredient to cook various dishes and the fruit season is the favourite season of citizen in
Malaysia. As we known, Malaysians are very smart and creative in creating new menu and
the fruits that are sold are very limited because they only bear fruit once a year. As a young
student entrepreneur, I decided to sell some vegetables and seasonal fruits with affordable
price for students which is tomatoes, chilis, lime, durians, rambutan and langsat.

The promotion strategy included product advertisements and sales promotions to pique
customers' interest in buying a product. This is also one of my opportunities to make profit
because the fruits I sell is very valuable and rare. The business locations is in Pasar Tani
Kubah Ria, Kuching, Sarawak which help to expand the target market of customers,
particularly local residents since the product is more needed and worth the price. Sales of this
product got a lot of response and increased day by day since my family members helping me
to promote the product to their colleague. This business also generates a lot of profit because
its total sales exceed its total expenses. This product does not require capital because the
seasonal fruits is our own crops except for vegetables which require capital because there are
purchased from suppliers. It is just taking money to buy the product and sell it at a reasonable
price. Throughout this business, I didn't feel burdened because it was mid semester break and
maybe I was used to do it since childhood.

When I was working on this business, I felt a sense of satisfaction when I was able to
implement the plan and have a positive response to the suggestions. Additionally, I learned
how to deal with a range of consumer preferences. In addition, I gained experience in time
management while studying and selling the goods. Making beautiful packaging and
consistently promoting the products through internet platforms like WhatsApp status are two
additional efforts that must be made in order for sales to be successful.

2.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The seasonal fruits only produce fruits at specific times. The main season of tropical
fruits in Malaysia is generally fall during June-August, while the off season is in December-
February. Some of the famous seasonal tropical fruits in Malaysia include durian, rambutan
and langsat which is also my product as a sale for assignment 1 ENT300. Malaysians are very
much looking forward to the arrival of this fruit season because it is seasonal and very rarely
sold during the normal season. Therefore, the residents are very excited when they see the
fruit being sold in the market and selling well in the market. Different with the vegetables
that are sold, we usually order through a supplier from the other country, which is Pontianak
Indonesia. The product will be sent to the market every Friday and bought at the market
price. The price of the product we will sell is also uncertain because it depends on the capital
from the supplier.

4P’s Strategies

1) Product

The fruits are my grandparent’s plants in his farm has also produced thousands of
Ringgit before. It was very fresh fruits from the orchard and usually collected in the early
morning or evening in order to maintain the freshness of the fruit. The weather factor is very
influential when picking it because it can affect the quality of the fruit. Furthermore,
regarding to the vegetables, we mostly sell imported vegetables and some of them are our
own plants such as Nangka Muda and Chempedak Muda. The quality and freshness of the
vegetables is highly prioritized because it will affect customer trust if quality is not
maintained.

2) Pricing

The price of the product is reasonable and affordable with the good quality for the
target customer. In addition, the price is also competitive and suitable for the local market.

Fruits

1. Durian = RM35/kg
2. Rambutan = RM5/bunch
3. Langsat = RM12/kg

Vegetables

4
1. Chilli = RM2/ plate
2. Tomatoes = Rm2/ plate
3. Lime = RM2/ plate
4. Black fungus = Rm2/plate
5. Pumpkin = RM3/ pack
6. Lady fingers = RM2/ bunch
7. Paku Pakis = RM2/ bunch
8. Nangka Muda = RM2/ plate
9. Chempedak Muda = RM2/ plate

3) Promotion

In the promotion strategy, product advertisements and sales promotions were used to
pique the interest and desire of customers to make a purchase. Customers discovered about
this product through product advertisements on online digital platforms also through family
members since the product also sell using offline system. Pictures were posted almost every
day via WhatsApp status to help build customer trust in the product. There is no specific
discount for the fruits selling but if for the vegetables, customer will have discount if they
buy 3 items which is 3 items for RM5. Usually on Sunday evening, we will be promoting our
product for Rm1 cause the place will close at 2 in the evening and need to clear all of the
products. This sales promotion is an excellent short-term profit strategy.

4) Place

This business is run at Medan Niaga Satok, Kubah Ria, Kuching Sarawak. This place
is the focus of many residents to get raw materials and fresh fruits. This located in the city
centre and is the largest farmer's market in Malaysia. Therefore, this place is well known to
residents and foreign tourists. Besides that, I also run this business online and helped by
family members to promote this product to his colleagues.

Target Customer

Since this business is located in Medan Niaga Satok, this product is more suitable for
local residents who want to taste seasonal fruits and buy raw materials such as vegetables to
cook the family's daily meals. Home cooked food is better and healthier than eating at a store.
Therefore, it is very important as a trader to sell high quality raw materials so that the

9
community can enjoy food without worrying about health. In addition, the price of the
product is reasonable and affordable for everyone.

4.0 EXPERIENTAL LEARNIG

I've developed a lot of experience in spotting business chances while running this
business. I have many opportunities to increase my grasp of the many business processes
because, as a student entrepreneur, I am technically involved in all areas of business activity.
Aside from that, I was personally satisfied when I learned more about being a seller, how to
negotiate with suppliers to buy and sell things at fair pricing, how to post the product, and
how to interact with customers directly to gauge their satisfaction with the product. To help
me understand the complexities of the business world, I also seek knowledge and information
from business expert.

In addition, I had prior experience selling the goods utilising a successful approach,
which increased client demand. Since I am more interested in marketing the product, it
should be the most popular food that the community needs, with freshness and good quality
being among its most crucial qualities. As a result, the local population can indubitably enjoy
seasonal fruits and vegetables. In addition, as living requires a lot of money and requires
constant saving, the price should be fair and affordable for everyone. I also gain financial
knowledge. learned how to create a budget and a modal, as well as how to subtract the gross
profit from the total expenses to obtain the net profit.

Finally, managing my time effectively is the most difficult aspect of running my firm.
When I had to manage my time as a student and part-time business, I became aware of the
value of time. In addition to dealing with the consumer to sell the product, I had to finish
every assignment, group project, and exam. It helped me become more autonomous in my
search for money through difficult times. Every such success will inevitably be accompanied
by challenges. Nevertheless, we were able to effortlessly go through the challenges because
to my dedication to the business development.

5.0 CONCLUSION

I've dealt with a wide range of consumers, both positive and negative, in the first two
weeks since I started my own business. I was able to determine at the start of my business
that the majority of my consumers are happy with my items. The fact that clients will contact
me if they want to repurchase the seasonal fruits or veggies and become a regular customer
actually overwhelms me. I became more enthusiastic and upbeat as a result.

Entrepreneurship made me step up my accountability game. I believe my business

made a woman out of me. When you own your own business, you are the boss. There is no
one looking over your shoulder making sure you do the work. As an entrepreneur, I have to
learn to hold myself accountable, or I will not succeed. Becoming more responsible in
business made me more accountable in my personal life as well. I find myself fulfilling
friendships by simply keeping up me end of the partnership.
