OPERATIONAL CLEAN UP DRIVE
“Isang Diwa. Isang Hangarin. Karagatan ay ating Kalingain”
PROJECT PROPOSAL
(TEAM COASTAL)
The Team Coastal is a group of students who is living inside the municipality of
Lemery where most of the students are from Nonong Casto, Lemery, Batangas.
The members share information and work together to promote a healthy,
productive and eco-friendly community. Team Coastal focusing to maintain
cleanliness to protect and care for the environment especially the bodies of water
by engaging the community in leading an environmentally conscious lifestyle.
Team Coastal supports trash reduction efforts that can help to teach residents
about recycling and about activities that will reduce the neighborhood’s carbon
footprint and fight climate change; improve solid waste management and raise
awareness of residents in protecting the marine ecosystem.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This proposed project aims to make people realized the importance of cleanliness
especially when it comes to the ocean. We also want to improve solid waste
management and raise awareness of residents in protecting not only the ocean
but also the whole environment.
We believe that there are so many good benefits that we can get in maintaining
the cleanliness of the environment especially the seashore. Since ocean is one of
the best tourist spots here in Nonong Casto, it is very important to maintain or
sustain the cleanliness of its whole surroundings. Living in a clean environment
makes life healthier, less stressful and more pleasant. It can improve the self-
image of residents and the neighborhood as a whole. A neighborhood that smells
like scattered wastes or looks like a dump is an undesirable place to live and work.
However, there might be barriers in implementing this project. First is the
residents. It would be very difficult for us to make them all realized the importance
of cleaning the ocean and its surroundings because not all the individuals here are
capable to hear our side, not are taking it positively and not responsible enough to
follow orders. That same goes to the tourists because we cannot guarantee if we
could make them follow this proposed project. Lastly is the typhoon. It is the most
dangerous barrier that we might encounter because we can never tell when it will
come. That is why we are doing our very best to reach out all the residents of
Nonong Casto and make them prioritize this proposed project.
We do believe that this project will be successful because some of the
residents here in Nonong Casto are willing and participative to help us in
maintaining the cleanliness not only the ocean’s surrounding but also the whole
barangay’s environment that would lead to a community progress.

for employment and income. Nonong Casto is also a well-known crop
source due to its diverse land crops. Many landowners in the area rent
out their vacant lots to farmers and negotiate the terms of the
transaction with them. Nonong Casto is a truly blessed barangay. Because
of its geographic location, the people who live here have fish, crops and
livestock and there are numerous job opportunities.
INTRODUCTION
HOW THE PLAN WAS DEVELOPED
Plastic , debris, poops, and all different kinds of dirts
scattered all over the beaches/ocean surroundings here in
our barangay is the main reason why we, team coastal,
wants to implement this clean-up drive project. The
beaches are also the main tourist spot here that’s why we
want to maintain its cleanliness and good scenery. We also
wanted to avoid dangerous situations that does scattered
waste could cause not just in our lives but also the lives
inside that deep water.
WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THER DEVELOPMENT OF THE
PLAN
We will also contact the Municipal Environment & Natural
Resources Office (MENRO). In our project the residents and
the barangay officials are also involved because they will be
the guide and also the one who would make this
implemented project be possible and success.
WHO WILL MANAGE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PLAN
We researchers are the one who will manage the project.
We will be the one who would take the lead on
implementing it. Next to this is the barangay officials. They
will serve as an instrument for us to make this project
possible. Lastly, the residents of our barangay that will also
serve as a way for us to make sure that together, we will
reach our goal.
OTHER INFORMATION
The continuous deterioration of the environment due to
insurmountable volume of garbage has brought enough
challenge to policy makers. Locally and internationally. The
presence of garbage of miscellaneous composition in
coastal areas is an indicator that the campaign on garbage
management has not yet been fully successful.
Most people claim to care for the environment, but
what people care for and the motives for their concern are
vastly different. People see the environment particularly the
ocean as common that is open to anyone being overused
and deteriorated. For immediate personal gain, individuals
continue to manipulate the environment, ignoring the long
term consequences.
The Operation Clean Up Drive “Isang Diwa. Isang
Hangarin. Karagatan ay ating Kalingain” promotes
environmental awareness. Team Coastal aims to foster a
community with a sense of responsibility by empowering
the citizens especially the youth through project and
campaigns. We want to help the barangay stay clean and
have an environment that is favorable to every person living
in the barangay.
