UNIT 4. INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING

Lesson 1. INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES

Evaluation: Task 4.1:

1. How do you differentiate learning goals from learning objectives?

- Learning goals are general learning targets while learning objectives specify what students will learn.
Also, Learning goals are long-term, broad, and achievable, but not necessarily measurable. On the other
hand, learning objectives are also referred to as learning outcomes because they are immediately linked to
the expected outcomes; what we can expect learners to be able to do by the end of the course.

2. Write a general and specific objectives on the following:

a. Science 7 (choose only 1 topic)

b. Science 8 (choose only 1 topic)

c. Science 9 (choose only 1 topic)

d. Science 10 (choose only 1 topic)

Follow the following format:

Grade Level Topic General Objective Specific Objectives

Science 7 BIOLOGY Students will justify  Explain the cell theory.

(CELL) why cells are  Describe the significance of being
considered the basic of unicellular or multi-cellular.
structure and function  Investigate and explain how plant cells
of all living organisms. are different from animal cells and
why are these differences to the
necessary to sustain life.
 Compare the major components of a
cell and describe their general
function.
Science 8 CHEMISTRY Students will recognize  Explain that matter has mass and
that all matter has volume
(Matter) different characteristic  Explain how energy is transferred

 Differentiate between atoms, elements,
and compounds.
Science 9 PHYSICS Students will define  understand that Newton’s third law of
Newton’s third law of motion applies to pairs of objects
(Newton's law) motion and apply rather than to individual objects,
Newton’s laws of  understand that all forces are forces
motion to analyze between two interacting objects,
systems of forces.  understand that forces between two
interacting objects always occur in
pairs.
Science 10 PHYSICS Students will  Describe how objects become charged.
investigate and explain  Describe electric current and electrical

Magnetism) magnetism are forms  Identify ways in which electrical
of energy. energy is transferred.
 Identify the relationship between an
electric current and a magnetic field.

Lesson 2. LESSON PLANNING AND WRITING

Task 4.2:

Create a lesson plan in Science using the ideas/knowledge or concepts given to you above. Use the rubric
in lesson planning as your guide.
Unit-End Exercise:

Why is there a need for a teacher to have a lesson plan?

A lesson plan serves as a guide that a teacher uses every day to determine what the students will learn,
how the lesson will be taught as well as how learning will be evaluated. It is important because lesson
plans enable teachers to function more effectively in the classroom by giving a detailed outline that they
adhere to during each class. This helps to make sure that every moment spent in class is used to teach
meaningful concepts and have worthwhile discussions rather than figuring out what you are supposed to
do as time goes on.
