1 FIRE STAIRS:
(a) Are there at least two escape routes
available to occupants from all stairs?
(b) If the hotel has external escape stairs,
are these maintained in a safe condition?
(c) Are floor plans displayed for the benefit
of the fire brigade?
(d) Are all corridors and stairways free from
obstruction and not used for storage?
(e) Are all floor and stairways surface in
good condition i.e., no turned up edges
of carpets or coverings?
(f) Is the normal electrical lighting
functioning i.e., all bulbs etc. serviceable
and provided?
(g) Are all fire exit doors easily openable to
outside by persons escaping without the
use of a key?
(h) Are all fire exits and escape routes clearly
signposted and illuminated by emergency

to open air via a risk-free area at ground
level? (i.e., NOT back via reception)
(j) Are the emergency stairways at all
levels fitted with self-closing fire/smoke
stop doors?
(k) Are handrails installed on stairways?

1.2 meters width)
(l) Are all escape routes (stairs / corridors /
exit doors) free for immediate escape?
(m) Are all EXTI doors unobstructed
externally?
(n) Are EXIT doors FREE to open at all
times e.g., not locked?
(o) Do any enclosed corridors have dead
ends longer than 10 meters? IF YES
