Research Title: The Effects of Social Media in the Student's Performance at Living

Angels Christian Academy

Research Problem: Social media is one of today's greatest data sources and is
frequently used by students. Social Media platforms are a major factor that are leading
to distraction and hindrance of mind. These days students tend to lose their focus from
studying and rather enjoy browsing on Social Media. All of this leads to wastage of time
without learning anything from it. Using social media has both positive and negative
effects on every individual, most especially on students like us. Particularly, on the
students academic performance. There’s no doubt about that because the use of
technology and social media is addicting. Nowadays, students spend most of their time
on social media, which affects their academic performance negatively. Since students
are enjoying and having fun using them, procrastination and cramming are on the rise in
this generation. When a teacher gives a task to students, they won’t do it on time
because they’ll probably choose their gadgets or devices to do their "things" on social
media before doing the said task. While spending their time on social media, they won’t
notice that they’re running out of time for their academic tasks. As they ran out of time,
tiredness and tardiness came into play because most of their time and energy were
used. And that will end up with them not doing any school activities.
