Abstract

Nowadays, the learners & teachers use the new Learning System due to the pandemic
that the world is facing right now. And it’s making a hard time not only to the learners
but also to the teachers and for the parents. The questionnaire were distributed using
the messenger app online, to know what are the perception and experiences of the
learners, teachers and parents regarding in this New Learning System. The findings
says that there is a big difference in learning through the face-to-face and the modular /
online learning method.

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

COVID-19 pandemic has a large impact to the government especially to DepEd.

The global lockdown of education institutions is going to cause major (and likely
unequal) interruption in students learning. Due to that pandemic it affects not only the
learners’ education also as the teachers teaching method and on how the parents can
help their son/daughter to answer and understand their tasks. And for the reason that
face to face is prohibited, the government had taken steps to enable learners to
continue their education.

The DepEd create a new learning system to continue the education of the
students even though there is a pandemic facing the world. There are learners and
teachers using the online class in teaching while others use the modular learning
system.

Knowing what is the perception of the learners, teachers and parents is important
so that this new learning system can be easier. Also to reduce depressed learners and
teachers.

Many learners have difficulty in facing the new learning system especially in
adjusting at the new learning and teaching system. There are also parents who
complained because they had difficulty in teaching their children. Teachers are also
suffering this kind of new teaching method to them. From adjusting in the new way/
method in teaching and also in adjusting their time for the family, students to teach
about the lessons that they are having a hard time to understand, by making the outputs
and lastly time for their rest.

Research Problem

General Problem

What is the perception to the new learning system of the learners, teachers and
parents?

Specific Problem

1. What is the effect of the new learning system to the learners, teachers and parents?

2. What is the difference between learners knowledge of face to face and new learning
system?

3. What is the relationship of the pandemic COVID-19 to the new learning system?

Significance of the Study

This study will beneficial to DepEd so that they will know how to make the new
learning system easier. Also to know what action they should do, for the reason of many
learners are facing depression regarding this new learning system and pandemic that
the world is facing?

Learners. To reduce mental problem and pressure about their module/ task.

Teachers. To know what are the difference between the teaching strategies
during the face to face learning system and the new learning system.

Parents. To know their rants about the new learning system and for them to
understand the new method of teaching their children.

2
Scope and Limitation of the Study

The focus of this study is to find out what is the effect of COVID-19 had on their
learning/ teaching and what they can say about the new learning system, also to know
how they can coped with it all. This study will be conducted in our barangay only.
During 07:00-11:00 am. The person/ volunteers that I will survey for leaners are already
in Secondary High School to Collage only, and the teachers will be survey are the
teachers that assigned in our barangay. And the last one would be the wiling parents
who will answer the survey.

Review of Literature

On February 11, 2020 the World Health Organization announced an official name
for the disease that is causing the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, first identified in
Wuhan China. The new name of this disease is coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated
as COVID-19. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an illness caused by a virus that can
spread from person to person. COVID-19 symptoms can range from mild (or no
symptoms) to severe illness (www.cdc.gov). The virus that causes COVID-19 is a new
coronavirus that can spread throughout the world. COVID-19 affects different people in
different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover
without hospitalization. The most common symptoms are fever, cough and tiredness.
While some of the less common symptoms are aches and pains, sore throat, headache
and etc.

Because of this, the education of learners is affected. Due to this situation, face
to face is prohibited, so the government provide a new learning system to be the new
way in teaching and learning in this kind of situation where no gatherings is done.
Teachers are having a hard time making their modules. Because they are lack of bond
papers and ink. Also in adjusting their time in making or editing those modules.
Learners are also having a hard time in answering their modules. While the other
parents who did not finished school are having a hard time teaching and understanding
what are the lesson in the module of their children are. There are some parents who are
working and cannot facilitate the learning to their children but they hired tutors.

The advantage of this new learning system is the learners are just staying in their
house. The family can have more time together than the previews times. They can have
their family get together and have a bond. They can also help them in their studies.

5
“Online learning can be as good as or even better than in person classroom
learning. Research has shown that students in online learning performed better than
those receiving face-to-face instruction, but it has to be done right. The best online
learning combines elements where students go at their own pace, on their own time,
and are set-up to think deeply critically about subject matter combined with elements
were students go online at the same time, interacting with the other students, their
teacher, and content, and getting feedback.”(Dr. Christine Greenhow)

Mostly students/ learners tend to feel depress or anxiety because of the pressure
they are facing plus their personal problems. So, by knowing their perception about this
new learning system can help to reduces what they are feeling and for them to be
helped.

Chapter V
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMMENDATIONS

This chapter shows the summary of the study and the conclusion with the
recommendations for further research.

SUMMARY OF THE STUDY

Due to the pandemic which is the COVID19 or NCOV causes to prohibit

the face-to-face learning. The DepEd provide a new learning system which is the
Modular and the Online Class so that the learners can continue their future or
dream to become true. Also for the teachers to continue teaching their students.
This study focuses on how the DepEd would do to make more effective the new
learning system that they provide for the learners and teachers. And also on how
will the parents can help their children with their lessons.

The researcher conducted a survey using the prepared questionnaire

made by herself concerning about the experiences of the respondents
throughout this school year. The questionnaire was distributed through online
due to the pandemic that the world is facing.

Based on the survey it was found that the learners, teachers & parents
encountered a hard time in adjusting from the previous learning system to the
new learning system. It also says that the learners, teachers & parents preferred
the face-to-face method of learning and teaching. Because for the learners they
excel and understand the lessons better in the face-to-face learning and teaching
method. As of the teachers, they can have enough time to rest and also can
teach well their students. Face-to-face method can also enlighten the parents in
teaching their children due to that not all of the parents are educated.

20
CONCLUSION

The results of the presented research of the Perception of Learners,

Teachers & Parents on DepEd New Learning System shows that face-to-face
should be comeback again if possible. Due to that based on the survey the
respondents says that their performance is better in the face-to-face method than
this new learning system. And they understand the lessons better in the said kind
of learning and teaching system.

From the findings that the respondents says it is better to learn and to
teach in the previous method witch is the face-to-face than the new learning
system because the new king of method give them a hard time in term of
learning and teaching.

RECOMMENDATIONS

In making this new learning system more easily the teachers should make a
digital video about the lessons that the learners is having a hard time. Especially in
Math subject. Because it usually has a solution in answering the problems. The digital
video will be a big help because it can help the learners to understand better their
lessons and also they will no longer ask the teachers and their parents concerning the
lessons that they don’t understand.

But it will be the best if the kind of learning system is face-to-face. Base on the
research survey most of the respondents really want the old learning system not the
new one.
