LEARNING PORTFOLIO / HOMEWORK GUIDELINES
SESSION 2022-23
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

The summer vacation homework has been planned keeping in view the age of the
students. All tasks are to be performed individually and independently by the
students. However, parents are requested to supervise their kids to ensure their
safety. Read the following instructions carefully before starting the homework:

 The assignments of all subjects may please be maintained in a learning


portfolio with a separator for each subject.
 The institution’s name, student’s name, roll number and grade should be
clearly labelled on the learning portfolio.
 The cover or title page of the portfolio is to be designed by students creatively
representing their own choices and preferences. They may paste, draw or
colour to make it more unique and attractive.
 The students may use loose sheets, notebooks or register to submit solved
learning portfolios. However, the solved file or copy may not exceed the
following dimensions:

13 inches: Vertical

11 inches: Horizontal

 The students may submit portfolios in printed form. However, extra points will
be awarded for hand written portfolios.
 All questions can be copied from the learning portfolio questionnaire in the
answer book or sheet before answering. However, tasks like puzzles and
pictures may be cut and pasted or drawn in the answer book before
answering.
 The students are required to put date and day on daily basis.
 All pages must be numbered consecutively from the title page.
 Homework should be completed neatly and legibly.
 Make sure all tasks are done according to the given instructions and
completed on time.
 The hard copy of the summer vacation homework should be submitted on
August 30th , 2022.
 Late or incomplete learning portfolios will not be entertained.
Note: These guidelines are meant to describe general homework practices.
Individual teachers are a source of more guidance and support. Please
contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

Task 1. Under the guidance of your parents, watch any movie of your own choice
and write its detailed review. Your review may include the character analysis, short
comings (if any) and strong points and how many stars out of five would you give the
movie.
Task 2. Choose a region in Pakistan which has an area of historical, geographical,
or cultural interest. Which special places, interesting facts, and other features would
attract visitors to it? Make notes and collect images (or draw them).
Task 3. Create a travel brochure or leaflet about the area you have mentioned in
Task 2. Your writing should persuade people to visit it. You can include information
about its key attractions by using appealing descriptions, different images, and
devices; for example, you could use bullet points to create a fact file of key
information about the region or a specific place in it. You could also include
information about the best time of year to visit!

Task 4. You are walking along a busy road and you see a car drive very close to
someone on a bicycle. The car almost knocks the cyclist off the bicycle. You are very
concerned about the way that car drivers behave towards cyclists. You decide to
write a letter to the Editor of the local newspaper to complain about the problem by
including the following:

 When and where the incident took place


 What exactly happened, including how the car driver was to blame
 What you think should happen to improve the situation for cyclists on
roads

Task 5. Describe the most helpful and the most unhelpful person you know.
(Remember you can describe their appearance as well as their character and
behaviour).
Task 6. Write a story in which a map plays an important part.
Task 7. Watch PTV World News for 21 days and note at least three words daily
that are new for you. Make a list and find their meanings in the dictionary. Afterwards
also use those words in your sentences.
Task 8. Write your routine on daily basis for continuously thirty (30) days. Compare
and contrast the difference in routine on different days (if any). Write your conclusion
highlighting what you learned from this activity.

1. Create a chart by calculating the heights of all the family members. Convert
the heights in cm. Also find the average heights of your family. Compare your height
with the average height and the height of your father.

material/resources, procedures, observations, and conclusion/results. All tasks are to
be performed individually and independently. Parents are requested to supervise
their kids to ensure their safety.
1. Energy can be transferred from one form to another. We use many energy
converters in our daily life. Observe carefully to find these energy converters in your
home. Make a list of any 10 converters including their names along with their energy
chains.
2. Investigate the conditions required for seeds to germinate. Set up your
apparatus as shown in figure. Keep the dishes at room temperature for a week.
Explain your observations.

3. Use your bicycle to go to the market near your home. Come back to your
home by using a different path. Measure and note down the time in seconds and
distance in meters, from home to market, and from market to home. Calculate your
speed for approach and return. (Note: Take an approximate value of distance, if
exact measurement is not possible)
4. Drop a paper, a piece of thermopol, and a piece of plastic from a height of 10-
15 feet. Note the time for each object to hit the ground. Why does the paper take
more time than thermopol and thermopol more than the plastic piece? Make the
paper to fell down in such a way that it should hit the ground before all of them. How
did it happen? Explain.
5. Have you ever noticed that how much electrical energy is consumed by
electrical appliances in your home? Make a chart of all of these appliances with their
power in kW and an average use on daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Usually the
electrical power is written on most of the appliances or on their packing. Calculate
the total consumption of electrical energy in kWh in your home for one month (30
days). Find the expected electricity bill for this month, if 1 kWh energy costs Rs 10.
Which item consumed most energy during the month?
6. As we know that the three most common household fuse values are 3A, 5A,
and 13A. Make a list of your household electrical appliances. Divide them into three
groups according to their power consumption to decide what fuse should be fitted in
the plug for each of them.

1. Imagine you are a fashion designer. Research on how to start your own
fashion clothing brand.

Write down the process you need to follow to start your own fashion clothing brand.
Think about the conditions that one has to meet to ensure the quality of the clothes
(manufacturer and the cost of clothes).

Draw the flow chart to describe the steps, which will be taken by the fashion designer
(or you) in making a decision. (Yes/No)

2. Gardening is essential for sustaining environment on the Earth and it is very


important and interesting hobby. Every child likes to participate in this field.

You are required to write all the steps involved in growing a plant in simple English
and then present it in flow chart diagram.

3. Conduct a research on 5 different types of software used in the healthcare


industry.

Create a Word Document and list down the following,


a. Name of different types of software used in the healthcare industry.

b. What types of activities are performed with the help of these software?

c. What are their unique features?

Take a print of the document and submit it.

Q1. The government of Pakistan in collaboration with the government of China


initiated (CPEC) project (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor). You are required to
make a portfolio on CPEC project.

The portfolio must include:

(1) Inaugurations date.


(2) Countries involved (Beneficiaries).
(3) Route / Map.
(4) Length of the route.
(5) Security measures for the project.
(6) Potential benefits for Pakistan.
(7) Foreign threats to the project.
(8) Impact on employment for local population.

Q2. The CPEC initiative is expected to bring to turn Pakistan into an “economic
corridor” and provide countless people with employment opportunities. Do your own
research and mention TWO other projects, national or international, that are
expected to boost the Pakistani economy.
