What is Energy?
Energy is the ability to do work. What work can you do?

Lifting your bag is one. When you walk, run and play you are
also working. In doing these things, you need Muscular Energy.
It is the energy of your muscles.

Muscular Energy is one of the different kinds of energy.

Other Sources of Energy

1. Solar Energy

Energy coming from the sun. Solar Energy is


also a source of electricity in some places.

2. Heat

Fire and sun are sources of heat.

Electricity can be a source too.

Heat is used to cook our food and iron our clothes.

3. Light

Aside from giving heat, the sun is also the number one source of light. Light
helps us moon and torch, see everything=ng around us.

The sources of light maybe natural or artificial(man-made).

Some objects absorb light and give off light. They are also called Luminous

materials.

Those that do not absorb and give off light are called non-luminous
materials.

4. Electrical Energy

Your television, computer, game console, flat iron, stove, toaster, oven work
with the help of electrical energy. This energy comes from electrical energy.

5. Sound Energy

When an object moves, sound is produced. Try strumming the strings of a


guitar. Beat the drum with a stick. Hit the spoon with your fork. All these can
make sounds. Sounds comes from vibrating objects.
