Activity 2 - Functions, Coordinates, and Values of Art

1. If you were an artist, what kind of artist will you be?

- If I was given the talent of accurately drawing what my eyes could see and what
my mind can imagine, I would definitely pursue the field of being an architect
apart from being a nurse. I consider architects as artists because they are able
to visualize a building so unique and draw it with so much accuracy. Architects
put their creativity into use that would benefit all people. I want to be a part of
them because they are like bridges of ordinary people and their sentiments.
Seeing the way architects make their artworks into a physical reality just amazes
me.

2. What art field will you explore? Why?

- I would explore the field of architecture which is a type of fine arts under visual
arts. The main reason why I would love to be an architect is that I just want to
put into use what my mind imagines and what my hand could draw. I love to
personally see my structural designs in its regal and exquisite form and be able
to let other people utilize it for their own benefit. Architecture is also a way for
me to express my desire and wish to have a nation we could all proudly promote
to the world. Zaha Hadid’s designs inspires me to be like her, if I was given the
chance.

3. How can you utilize the arts to express yourself, your community, and your relation to
others and within the earth?
- Art, in any form, signifies a meaning behind it. With the help of art, artists are
able to express their sentiments about particular areas in life. It may not be
purposefully written nor it is displayed as obvious as it is, the message of an
artwork could actually make a difference to those who have seen it. No artists
are the same, each of them has different ways and techniques in making their
art. For me, I am most inclined in painting sceneries. I kind of like to experiment
my color shades depending on my emotions. I most likely like to paint
landscapes in my town like the crystal clear Canigao Island as well as the
greenery and the lush forest of a certain baranggay. In this way, I could promote
my town’s own tourist attractions that could also prompt some people to visit
and see the attractions themselves. Also in this way, I could make people see
the abundant blessings God had given us and make them realize that destroying
for short-term benefits will just do us no good. Nature can live without humans,
but humans couldn’t do the same.
