We all live in an age where we heavily relay on the use of the internet, or technology in general,
whether you’re a boomer, a millennial, or part of the generation-z. Nowadays, media comes in
many forms that can disseminate information in just one click of button and a few keywords on
the search engine, it has never been this easy to find a news or an article. But we can’t disregard
the fact that not everything we see online is the truth, some are lies that dressed up to be the
truth, and some are rumours that people like to believe are true.

With that said, through using our knowledge on media, our voice, and our platform online, we
can combat and raise awareness to other people of different ages that there is a need to be media
literate because through it one goes beyond just reading and writing, they apply critical thinking
and analysis to understand the media, to debunk rumours, to cross-check facts, to be able to tell
what a real or fake news is. Realistically speaking, we as students don’t really have much to raise
a campaign, but with the aid of technology and different social media platforms, we can make a
change, even with just as simple infographic, a presentation, or a visual video, they can all make
an impact to the minds of those who are open to new ideas and knowledge. Our voice is also
powerful, giving a constant reminder and imparting them knowledge of what you know and what
you’ve learned to those around you can make a difference. One small act of sharing what you
know can create tens, hundreds, or thousands of people whose minds can finally be open to what
the media really is.
