COMBATIVE SPORTS

It is a competitive contact sports w/c also known as a fighting sports that is usually with one-on-
one combat. From the word “combat” it is obviously to fight. Some example of Combative sports
are BOXING, WRESTLING, FENCING and more.

So like other sports, Combative sports has its advantages and disadvantages.

I’ll begin with it ADVANTAGES,

In combative sports it trains the players in self-defense techniques, that could prove to be useful
in a dangerous situations.

It keeps the body fit and healthy

And it also boosts mental health and helps to focus on important goals.

So if we have advantages, ofcourse we have the DISADVANTAGES as well,

First, it causes injuries which could lead the players to death

Second, it is an expensive sport as it includes the cost of training gear, and etc.

And it is also a time consuming.

TAEKWONDO

Taek means kick

Won means punch

Do means the way or the method

So therefore, taekwondo is the art of kicking and punching and it was considered as the safest
martial art all over the world

It was developed during the 1940s and 1950s by various Korean martial arts.

Taekwondo uses much kicking because legs are longer than our hands. So with our legs we
can more defend ourselves during self-defense situation.

Tekwondo was introduced to the Philippines in 1972 during President Ferdinand Marcos

Tenet of taekwondo:

 SELF-CONFIDENCE- A person has self-confidence when he/ she believes in his/her


ability.
 MODESTY- showing good character, honestly and humbleness.
 INDOMITABLE SPIRIT- it refers having the courage to stand up for your beliefs and to
stay strong.
 PERSEVERANCE- It refers to the willingness of the taekwondo student to continue to
struggle against all odds to reach their goal.
 ETIQUETTE- In this tenet it includes correct etiquette and good manners at all times.
