Identify and define the concepts on becoming Global/ Glocal teacher

Definition of terms

Glocal- blend of both the local and the Global- relating to the whole world
global

To become a global teacher, characteristics and learning goals are often required to
know the ability of the educator itself, if they are fit for the position as a global teacher.
The following learning goals are:
1. They should have an emerging content such as global awareness; financial,
economic, business, and entrepreneurial literacy; health and environmental
awareness
2. Learning and thinking skills; critical and problem thinking skills, communication,
creativity and innovation, collaboration, contextual learning, information, and
media literacy.
3. ICT literacy: using technology in the context of learning so students know how to
learn.
4. Life skills: leadership, ethics, accountability, personal responsibility, self-direction,
others.
5. 21st century assessments: authentic assessments that measures the areas of
learning.

To become a glocal teacher, they should possess characteristics by several qualities


and attributes in addition to in depth knowledge, functioning skills and embedded
values.
Glocal teachers:
1. Understand how this world is interconnected.
2. Recognize that the world has rich variety of ways of life.
3. Have a vision of the future and sees what the future would be for
himself/herself and the student
4. Creative and innovative
5. Understand, respect and tolerant of the diversity of the cultures.
6. Believe and act for education that will be for himself/herself and the students.
7. Facilitate digitally mediated learning
8. Process good communication skills (multilingual)
9. Aware of international teacher standard and framework
