PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The program related to the fields of hospitality and tourism education will equip students with
competencies that are needed to execute operational tasks and management functions in food production
(culinary), accommodation, food and beverage service, tourism planning and product development,
events planning, transportation services, travel and tour operations and other emerging sectors of
hospitality and tourism industry.

Course Title: Philippine Tourism, Geography and Culture


Course Code: THC4
Course Credits: 3 units
Course Pre-requisite: None
Course Description: This course provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of major tourist
destinations, geography, flora and fauna, different festivals, culture, arts and
history of different provinces in the Philippines. This course also aims to equip
students with knowledge on political structures and major entry points or
gateways into the various provinces in the country.

I. THE PROGRAM OUTCOMES (BSHM)

The BS HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT graduates are expected to become globally competent,


innovative, socially and ethically responsible computing professionals engaged in life-long learning
endeavors. They are capable of contributing to the country’s national development goals. After finishing
the degree, the graduates are expected to:

1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice.
2. Effectively communicate orally and in writing using English, Filipino, mother tongue language,
and an appropriate Foreign Language required by the industry.

By the end of the course, student should be able to:
1.Accept the economic value of the tourist destinations in the different provinces and cities of the
Philippines;
2. Identify the various provinces in each region and town, and chartered and component cities in each
province on a blank map
3. Identify the major access routes to major domestic destinations
4. Name and describe major attractions in each province
5. Learn and appreciate Philippine culture and influences
