LESSON 1: THE LODGING INDUSTRY
At the end of the lesson, the students shall be able to;

Learn the importance of knowing the different room types, room beds, categories and locations

Describes the room types, room beds, room categories and room locations that are suits to the guest.

PART 2: TERMINOLOGIES
❖ LODGING- is defined as a residential accommodation either a hotel, inn, motel or a private home.
❖ DAY RATE- rate usually less than the rate that is rack rate that is charged for guests who wants to use the hotel
room on the standard time.
❖ HOTEL- establishment providing accommodation, meals and other services for guest.
❖ MINIBAR- small refrigerator in a hotel guest room that has snacks and beverages inside that guest may avail with a
corresponding charge or fee.
❖ ROOM AMENITIES- hotel items that are offered for free for the guest while using the rooms.

PART 3: DISCUSSION
HISTORY OF LODGING INDUSTRY
Being hospitable can be traced back to Early Civilization. The trading industry, as one major activity during that time, calls
for a need for accommodations. After a long travel, the need for a place for sleep and relaxation has been necessity.
