A. Science Concepts/Ideas:
Geological phenomena and hazards are earthquake, tsunami, landslides and volcanic
eruption.
The best way to manage disaster impacts is to be aware of how it occurs and its
accompanying consequences and plan for actions to be taken before, during, and after a
phenomena.

III. Procedure:
A. Preparatory Activities:
What are the different kinds of geological phenomena and hazards. How are they classified?

B. Developmental Activities:
1. Showing pictures of the 4 kinds of geological phenomena and hazards. Ask what do they see
in each picture, such as earthquake, tsunami, landslides, and volcanic eruption.
2. Discuss what would happen to a place hit by these natural disaster or calamities.

C. Concept Formation:
What are the different kinds of geological phenomena and hazards.
What data should be established in order to know the needs of every individual in the damage
area?

D. Application:
a. Your building is very weak. What should you do during an earthquake?
b. Your house was built near the sea shore. What should you do not to hit by a big waves or
tsunami?
c. Your house was built near the mountain. There is a heavy rain and you know that anytime
landslide may occur, what will you do?

time of trouble?

B. Presentation:
Show the pictures of hydro-meteorological hazards and let them talk about their
experience.
Tell them to ask questions about the pictures they have seen.
Read the DRRRM Chapter III

C. Discussion:
a. What are the hydro-meteorological phenomena and hazards? (Discuss the hydro-
meteorological phenomena and hazards one by one)
b. What should you do before during and after these natural phenomena?(Discuss preparedness,
response and rehabilitation of each phenomena to the pupils.
c. Write their answers in a semantic web.

D. Generalization:

should you do if these phenomena? Disaster hit your locality?

PAG-ASA warned the public that there is a strong typhoon coming. What is the best thing to do?
