1. Overview of Module 4

This GBPA 01 Module 4 covers the basic principles of Business Ethics and
Corporate Social Responsibility for a period of 6 hours which is equivalent to two class
meetings. Required activities and references are found towards the end of the module.

2. Desired Learning Outcomes

After the nine-hour home-based study period for Module 4, you are expected to have:

(1) Read and understood the assigned reading materials;

(2) Analyzed and grasped the basic concepts of Business Ethics and Corporate Social
Responsibility; and
(3) Accomplished the required tasks in the Progress Check and Evaluation sections of
the module.

3. Content/Discussion

Business, though primarily profit-oriented, cannot be devoid of Ethics and

Social Responsibility. This is expounded in the readings on Business Ethics and
Corporate Social Responsibility given in this module. An additional article on the
merits and demerits of Globalization is included for further reading and reflection.

4. Progress Check

Now that you have read the course description, guidelines and the assigned reading you
are now ready to do the following:

4.1 Write a short reflection (50-100 words) on why it is in the long-term interest of
business to engage in ethical practices.

4.2 Research the Corporate Social Responsibility of your favorite business

establishment and rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the lowest and 10 the highest).
Give a brief justification for your rating and cite your references. (50-80 words)

4.3 Based on the article on Globalization, are you in favor of Madison or Blanchette?
Why? (50-100 words).

5. Evaluation

Write down the creative insights and realizations that you have with regard to Ethical
Business practices, Corporate Social Responsibility. (100-150 words).
