III. Presenting Problem

The household was assessed to be in level 3 on SWDI Validation. The household has a child to monitor
but Teresa verbalized that she wanted to exit in the program since she can able to provide the needs
of her children at the same time she has no time to comply in the conditionalities because of their work.

IV. Background Information

A. The Family

The household was registered in Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) with Household ID No.
037109007-4395-00016 under Set 6C.
For almost eight years, the program provides cash grants, counseling, and strict monitoring of compliance. The
program also provided the family with developmental services like family development sessions, seminars, and
counseling the main purpose is to provide skills and knowledge to the household members and to empower themselves
to alleviate their well-being from their vulnerable condition. During those previous years of being a beneficiary of the
program, Teresa was religiously attending her duties as 4Ps beneficiary. She regularly attending in family development
sessions and submits the school certificate of her monitored child. She participates in other 4Ps activities. However, in
2017, Teresa went abroad and work there for almost two years. Her husband was the one complying with the
conditionalities of the program. Before Darvin is very active in complying and attending the Family Development
Session. but when the time comes when he became busy being a boatman and fisherman he seldom attends the FDS
until such time Teresa came home, and decided to exit the program because they can no longer comply with the
conditionalities because of their being busy at work. The family has a strong relationship with one another. They make
sure that everybody in participated whenever they encountered a problem in the family.

For almost 8 years in the program the household already availed some “ AYUDA”or available services in the program.
Such as Educ Grant, health grants. rice subsidy, UCT Grant, Social Amelioration, and lastly the fuel subsidy.

B. Environment/ Community

The household resides in an area near the river which is connected to the sea. It is almost 38 years since they
are living in that area but still they did not experience any disaster. The family’s house is made of strong materials.
The household has Emergency Balde also that they could use during the disaster and they also have life vests made
of recycled plastic bottles of 1.5 coke.

The barangay and the Disaster risk reduction management office of the Municipality use conduct seminars regarding
disaster preparedness yearly. This activity increases the awareness of the residents about the different kinds of
disasters and what are their preparations or protocols before, during, and after a disaster. It also has a health center
in its barangay where it was easy to go whenever there is a minor illness in the constituent of the barangay.

The barangay conducts community assemblies also to inform the residents regarding the new
ordinances of both barangay and municipal. There is no crime happening in the area since the people are aware of
the laws being imposed in the barangay and most of their neighbors are their relatives.

V. Assessment

At present, Darvin shows positivity and perseverance to give her children a better future by sending her children
to school. They believe that acquiring higher education will help the family to improve their well-being. The
couple strives hard to provide for the needs of their children. The income of the family is enough to meet the
needs of their children and despite of voluntarily exiting the program, I believe that the family has the capability
to improve their level of well-being.

With the above assessment and findings, the family has the potential to improve further their socio-economic
status. However, they still need support from the program in order for them to sustain self-sufficient level of
well-being.
