H) Quality Control
• Materials shall be checked for Quality, Quantity and Size.

• Check technical installation as per drawing.

• Check installed field instruments & accessories with respect to manufacturer

documents.

• Drawing approved.

• Material approved.
• After field instruments had installed, internal Inspection shall be carried out and then RFI
shall be issued by QA/QC for installation inspection one day in advance to Consultant.

I) Safety Procedure
• Work permit shall be obtained from the relevant authorities prior to commencement of
the works if applicable.

• All installation/construction work will be undertaken in accordance with safety

procedure.

• Safety equipment shall be provided for personal safety.

• The site of all work activities will be kept in clean and tidy condition.

• Experienced and qualified safety supervisor will be assigned to implement and control
HSE on site.

J) Procedures
J.1) General

A loop shall be termed ready for checking when the following activities are completed.

 The appropriate pre-installation instrument calibration testing has been

completed.
 Instrument panels / junction boxes have been inspected.
 All cabling, proper glanding & termination have been inspected.
 All field instrument certificates are available and checked as per area
classification suitability.
 A Loop Test is defined as being complete when a full range Response/functional
test of all components within the loop had been conducted and found satisfactory
as per approved drawing.

J.2) Loop Test

Prior to the Loop Test the following activities shall be performed:

 Confirm loop test sheets has been issued with all necessary drawings
attached.
 Ensure that all knife switches are opened preceding to any test.
 Verify that all instruments are tagged correctly as per P&ID and datasheets.
 Visually inspect all field installation for completed piping, wiring and power
supply.
 The loop continuity check shall be carried out from field instruments to
marshalling cabinet (PLC) as per instrument Loop Diagram.
 Loop test is carried out by at least two persons, one in the control room and
one in the field, which shall be provided with adequate means of
communication.
 Loop Testing shall be conducted by Qualified and experienced technician
supervised by the instrument Engineer.
 Test shall be recorded by the Instrument Engineer and witnessed by
Client/client representative in accordance with ITP.
 After successful completion of each loop the individual loop components shall
be marked with colored label (Red-Loop Test completed) bearing the data of
the Loop Test and signatures of the witnessing parties.
 During loop testing the associated alarms, parameters and action of the final
devices shall be fully checked as much as practically possible so, when
appropriate, as electrical representative shall be present to check the inter-
related equipment, such as status signal from MCC and pumps.
 Apply changes and corrections of Loop test report with all relevant drawings
attached, indicating loop test index sheet with all activities that had been
completed.

J.3) Loop Test for Transmitters

 Verify that the loop is completed and witnessed by internal test report.
 Check the relevant datasheet for the transmitter ranges.
 Confirm with the ILD that the loop is complete.
 Check the P&ID for proper tagging.
 Ensure installation is completed as per installation drawing.
 Verify terminations from Field to instruments.
 Check the power supply using the Digital Multi Meter.
 Verify transmitter display during initial start-up.
 Allow 2 to 3 minutes warm up time for the instruments.
 Inject signals from Loop Calibrator for 0% ~ 100% of the range.
 Verify the response of the instruments as per calibration certificate.
 Check the reading in PLC and local indicators (If applicable)
 Verify all the associated trip & Alarm functions by simulating various
transmitter output and adjust trip limits accordingly.
 Check display for proper engineering units.
 Record all the results in Approved Form (Loop Test Report Sheet).
J.4) Loop Test for Switches

 Switches functions for Trip & Alarm functions shall be verified from the field.
 The function shall be checked by operating the switch mechanism, the mode
of connection shall be recorded as per switch function normally open NO or
normally closed NC.
 Record result in the approved form (Loop Test Report Sheet).

J.5) Loop Test for Other Equipment / Panel

 Ensure the no. of cables are as per the approved document / drawing.
 Verify the cables are terminated properly as per the manufacturer drawing /
document.
 Manually operate the equipment prior to testing; to verify the correct operation
to avoid damages.
 The function shall be checked by operating the mode of connection shall be
recorded as per contact function (normally open NO or normally closed NC)
by changing the modes & status.
 Record result in the approved form (Loop Test Report Sheet).

K) Final acceptance
