NOTE: For colors 1 & 2, use thread you want the quilting lines to be.
1.This is a running stitch that will show where the cover will sew and it will also
sew a placement line for the tab to hold the pen.

Before sewing step 2, remove hoop from machine & lightly spray backside of the
fabric you're using for the front of the cover with temporary spray adhesive. Lay
over stitches just sewn. Lightly spray one side of craft fleece and lay this over
the area just sewn on the back of the hoo. Place hoop back on machine.
2.Quilting stitches.

(If making the blank oval cover & you've added your own design, start sewing it
now, then continue with the instructions following step 12)
(If making the "buterfly" memo pad cover, continue with the step below)

NOTE: For colors 3 - 5, use thread that matches fabric you're using for the oval
background.
3.This is a running stitch that will show where the oval will sew.
4.Before sewing step 4, iron Steam A Seam or spray temporary adhesive to the
backside of the piece of fabric you're using for the oval. Place this over the
running stitch made in step 3. Sew out step 4. Remove the hoop from your machine.
DO NOT unhoop the fabric. Carefully, cut around the stitches. Place hoop back on
machine.
5.Satin stitch outline of oval.

NOTE: For colors 6 - 8, use thread that matches fabric you're using for the bottom
wings of the butterfly
6.This is a running stitch that will show where the wings will sew.
7.Before sewing step 7, iron Steam A Seam or spray temporary adhesive to the
backside of the piece of fabric you're using for the wings. Place this over the
running stitch made in step 6. Sew out step 7. Remove the hoop from your machine.
DO NOT unhoop the fabric. Carefully, cut around the stitches. Place hoop back on
machine.
8.Satin stitch outline of wings

backside of the piece of fabric you're using for the wings. Place this over the

machine.
11.Satin stitch outline of wings
12.Body of butterfly

Remove hoop from machine and trim fabric from the front of the hoop and fabric and
fleece from the back of the hoop close to the stitches all around the cover. Turn
hoop over to the backside and lay on table in front of you with the tab placement
line at the right. (Tab placement line is s short straight line extnding outward
from one long edge of design) Fold tab piece (2 1/2"x1) in half wrong sides
together and short ends meeting. Using glue stick, apply small amount of glue on
inside end of one short edge and secure together. Place tab centered over tab
placement line with short ends overlapping edge of design 1/2". Use glue stick to
secure tab ends down. Spray one side of timtex piece you cut from your template
with temporary spray adhesive. Place over back of design and over tab ends. Have
the long edge of the right hand side of the timetex placed just inside of the
stitching around cover. Note timetex piece will not cover entire design. There
should be approx. 1" of cover in hoop showing.

Spray back of lining fabric and place over entire design covering timetex. Turn
hoop right side over and lay on table. Press everything with your fingers to
secure. Place bobbin with matching thread you are using for the outline of the
cover in machine. Carefully place hoop back on machine.
13.This step will secure back piece, timtex and tab. Remove hoop from machine.
Carefully trim fabric from back of hoop close to stitching. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CUT
THROUGH YOUR TAB. Fold fabric you're using for the pocket, wrong sides together, so
that it measures 5" x 8", press. Measure up 4 1/2" from the bottom of design on the
back of hoop. Place folded edge along this line having edges extend past cover.
Secure edge with glue stick. Turn hoop over and press with fingers to secure pocket
edges. Place hoop back on machine.
14.This step will secure the pocket. Remvoe hoop from machine. Carefully trim
around pocket edges close to stitching. Place hoop back on machine.
15. Satin stitch edge around cover.

Remove design from hoop. Carefully, trim away as much WSS as possible. Using a wet
finger, run it along the edge of cover to remove any remaining WSS.
Spray the 1" strip on back of cover with permanent spray adhesive. I lay the cover
wrong side up on newspaper and lay a paper towel over cover blocking off everything
except the 1" strip, then spray so I'm only spraying the part I want. With pad on
table in front of you, line up edge of cover with tab with the right hand side of
pad and line up top and bottom edges. Wrap other edge of cover around to back side
of pad. Make sure all edges are lined up. Press sprayed edge down on back of pad.
Lay covered pad on table and set a heavy book on top, leaving it overnight.
