Overview
Hayami Builders is developing a 22-story residential tower located at 4182
Washington St., Marietta, GA 30006. The company is currently in the project
planning phase which started last December 01, 2030. The building design and
construction planning is in full swing and is expected to be completed by
March 01, 2031.

Problem
The building design provided by the engineers and architects in the project did
not include the specifications provided by the client. The materials required
were all substandard and of low quality. All of which are listed in the
company’s must not use construction materials and equipment.

Corrective Action
The Quality Control Engineer forwarded a report to the Project Manager to
have the building design plan changed according to the client’s specification
and based on the company’s accepted standards. The Senior Project Engineer
met with the construction team to discuss the matter and ensure that the
current non-conformance will not happen again.

Recommendation
The lead engineers in any construction project should emphasize the
importance of adhering to client specifications and company accepted
standards when planning for any construction project. A detailed checklist
must be created for each project to serve as a reminder for everyone on the
team on what they should do. The Project Manager and Senior Project
Engineer is also responsible for double checking the plan.
